Bernanke's Reward: Four More Years {Politics Daily}

Aug 26th 2009 12:02PM Well, he couldn't exactly fire the guy. That might be an indication that things aren't going quite as well as portrayed.

Plus - it's tough to keep the circus in town without the guy who drives the Clown Car.

Why We Need a Public Health Care Option {Politics Daily}

Jul 29th 2009 2:48PM "Yes, Barack, people are going to trust you with their lives based on your compassion, vast experience
and for all the wonderful things that you've accomplished. The sad fact is you are only a no-account race hustling
lawyer who never created a scintilla of wealth for anyone except yourself nor did a single successful thing aside
from convincing the largest group of organized halfwits in history to elect you to ever higher office
without any distinguishing merit. All of these wonders occurred while your own extended faux family lived in
cardboard shacks in Africa and public housing as illegal aliens in the US. You gave next to nothing to charities
for most of your adult life except to the Race Supremacist Wright. Yes, you are trustworthy.

I am still waiting for one successful initiative from you. Anything? " - Andrew Malone

Galley Gossip: Attention Sharon Stone, GIVE ME THAT BAG! {Gadling}

Jul 14th 2009 12:11PM Seriously, the very last thing we need is yet another law. The airlines have the right to limit the size and number of pieces of luggage their passengers can bring aboard a flight, either checked or carry-on. They can deny passage to anyone failing to comply, should they choose.

We are so overburdened with laws already. The idiot authoring this bill is creating busywork, and remember, your airline lobbyists are paying for it. With your money.

Galley Gossip: A question about why flight attendants are paid twice as much as teachers {Gadling}

Apr 20th 2009 11:59AM Full-time teachers in our area earn an average of $86,500.00 per year for approx. 185 days of work.

My husband used to date a U****d FA, with whom we're friends. After 10 years on the job, she was earning less than $35K.

I don't think ANY FA is in their job for the money. Almost every one I've met has been very good at what they do. Of course, there are bad apples in every bushel, but overall I have received excellent customer service from this segment of the airline industry. I am a frequent flyer, both domestic and international, and do not fly any single airline more often than another - FF programs aren't good enough to ensure my loyalty - and would rather deal with a flight attendant or pilot than almost any other airline employee.

Biggest cigarette tax increase starts now...ready to quit smoking yet? {WalletPop}

Apr 1st 2009 2:59PM Be careful what you wish for...

It's ignorant to say that we should raise 'sin' taxes because '... those (insert product here) don't do anyone any good!'

Are you certain? What about all the folks employed in those industries?

What's next? A tax on sugared foods - oh, wait, they're already DOING THAT IN CALIFORNIA. A tax on... orange automobiles? Blue ones?

T(axed) E(nough) A(lready).

OVERSIGHT, not TAX HIKES, is what's needed!!!

Galley Gossip: Lost in first class {Gadling}

Mar 13th 2009 1:09PM Okay - when did this happen? This must be an old story. (Interesting, though...)

It was my understanding that the plane would not have left the gate without the guy unless no one in the entire party checked luggage, according to security procedures.

I suppose if everyone in the family had carry-on, this might have happened...

Just what would you pay an extra $10 for on an airplane? {Gadling}

Nov 15th 2008 10:46AM Cate -

Any parent who lays their child on a filthy airplane floor had better be prepared for much worse than diaper rash. And it's truly OBNOXIOUS to change a reeking diaper - or carry on strong-smelling food/drink, or pass gas, or you-get-the-picture - in the open areas of any enclosed public place.

Galley Gossip: Why business class is the most junior position on the airplane (Plus a chance to win the book The Go-Giver) {Gadling}

Nov 14th 2008 4:27PM Heather -

Nope, I'm not looking to win the book. Just HAD to tell you... was recently on a flight where I saw a seated FA flipping through a photocopied, stapled stack of paper with print so small it would give Superman a headache. She was so focused! When I walked back past her, she glanced up and mumbled, 'Can I get you anything?' I said, "No, thanks. I recently read that disturbing you while you're reading the Bid Sheet is akin to risking my limbs, if not life (with a smile and a shake of my head)."

She was startled into saying, "Are you a flight attendant?" I told her no, but that I was a frequent reader of your blog. She wanted me to send a big THANKS your way, so here it is!!!

Happy Birthday Gadling! Win free premium tickets to Amsterdam on OpenSkies! {Gadling}

Oct 8th 2008 11:14AM Oh!! I would make sure my nephew, whose Dad (my brother) passed away very young from cancer (Dad was 36, his son was only 4), would get to see Amsterdam, which I love, and Venice, where my deceased brother had a dear, dear friend. I KNOW my brother would have wanted his son to know his friend. I would probably send another of my brothers along with my nephew so they could enjoy the Great Guy Experience together. There is no way my nephew, who is now 15, would ever expect to be able to enjoy such a 'trip of a lifetime' without help. He/they would be absolutely blown away!!!!

What a WONDERFUL way for you to celebrate your birthday, Gadling. I hope I can take a page from your book and 'pass it on' as a 'gift' for my next birthday - thank you!!!

GOP Pushes Voter Dress Code {Politics Daily}

Oct 5th 2008 8:11PM The wearing of any shirt, button, et al containing ANY election message (vote for X, no on proposition xx, etc.) within 100 feet of a polling place is illegal in California, where I am a volunteer poll worker. If I were included to put a politically-themed bumper sticker on my car, I would be required to park more than 100 feet away when reporting for my SIX A.M. TO NINE P.M. WORKDAY. We volunteers don't want to be police, but we are required BY LAW to deny entry to anyone carrying, or wearing, any campaign materials. Please, please, PLEASE DO NOT put your local poll volunteers in this unfortunate and miserable position!!!
