A light sleeper's lament: six things you shouldn't do in a hotel {Gadling}
Jan 14th 2012 11:02AM The free breakfast that is available in many mid-range hotels now is gross because people let their kids run out of control...snotty noses and coughing below the sneeze guards and dirty hands actually touching the food (tongs are there for a reason) let alone letting the kids make their own waffles, toast etc which is aggravating to those who are in a hurry to either catch a flight or get to a meeting. I wonder if parents allow their kids to have the same control at home? Parents be parents.
Confederate Flag Gets South Carolina Neighbors Up in Arms {AOL Real Estate}
Sep 27th 2011 4:29PM WHile I wouldn't fly a Confederate flag, in this nation she has the freedom of speech which includes flying it. I guess she wont be invited to many pot luck suppers in the neighborhood. Again it's her right but I would think out of respect for your neighbors you would want to be a good neighbor and not be so offensive.
This also goes to show you that no matter how PC we become it doesnt change what is in someones head or heart. They may just display the PC thing on the outside while the inside still harbors their true feelings. I would much rather have the truth face me than the fake PC gestures to my face.
Parents Upset After School Yearbook Lists George W. Bush, Dick Cheney as Worst People of All Time {ParentDish}
Jun 2nd 2011 3:43PM MIddle School kids came up with this? I don't believe it...IF they did, in previous generations were other politicians included? The incivil discord among political parties anymore is just ridiculous...One side points the finger and disgust to the other side and their party is just as bad. It boils down to money and both spread their propaganda to say they are right and hte other 50% of Americans are morons. The incivility is becoming to much and the media doesn't help...Between FOX and CNBC and MSN and the Huffington Post its sad but all they want to do is stir up crap and create drama because drama sales ad time and fills up sponsorships of their stations. The sad part is so many Americans buy into and continue to spread the crap.
Americans wise up...remember UNITED WE STAND, divided WE FALL and we are falling quickly...
Mother of 'Genderless' Baby Storm Speaks Out {ParentDish}
May 31st 2011 11:49AM This is no ones business except the family. Maybe if more people weren't as judemental, maybe, just maybe, there would not be as much hate and prejudice in the world towards people who are different.
ALL prejudice comes from pre-formed notions from peoples surroundings. Go to a sandbox and most kids will play together harmoniously unless the parent's prejudice has already pentrated an open, young mind and warped it.
Kudos to this family, these kids will grow up in a home with freedom to discover their own thoughts, likes and dislikes (which most kids today don't even have any of their OWN thoughts).
Kudos...
Iowa School Principal Delivers Birthday Spankings to Students {ParentDish}
May 28th 2011 9:00AM As a kid growing up our teachers gave us "licks" with a paddle for our birthdays...and one to grown on...it wasn't a HARD paddling it was in fun and was not hurtful.
We are raising the biggest bunch of whiners...in the 90's we raised kids with over inflated self -esteems and self-entitlement. Now we are raising them that EVERYTHING is hurtful and degrading and more uncivil...for Petes Sakes folks in the near future no one will be able to so much as wipe their own backsides...Maybe parents should be teaching their kids not to be a little more self sufficient and that the world does not care if your feelings are hurt or it your nuerotic..put on your big kid underwear and deal with life.
Ashton Kutcher to Replace Charlie Sheen on 'Two and a Half Men' {PopEater}
May 13th 2011 10:21AM Is Lorre looking for a different demographic? Because adding Kutcher you might as well put it on Friday night at 8PM.
Just pull the plug and give the series a respectable death instead of putting it on life support and having audiences walk away.
Lorre seems to be as arrogant as Sheen.
Loved the show but it was an ENSEMBLE piece it takes all the original parts to create the synergy to make it work...
Kids Skip Schools, but Their Parents Face Detention {ParentDish}
May 12th 2011 11:07AM Parents have lost control (no, not "lost" given control) and I don't know why or how. This is my generation and some of the things I see are crazy. Our parents put us kids first and it was about us being raised with discipline and leanring right from wrong and school was our job, summer was our vacation. Some parents don't emphasize the importance of education nor do the teach their kids right from wrong with discipline. Examples...If a child does wrong and the parent institutes discipline to make the child learn right from wrong IF it is going to inconvenience the paretns plans then the parent blows it off and says I talked to them about it..no consequences...same with sending the kids to school...Parents don't want to be inconvenienced so if a deal to Disney comes up mid Feb, they pull the kids out of school to go...what message does this send? Until parents make SACRIFICES on themselves and put the childs raising first, raising children will continue to be a mess and society will have to pay the price with rude, ill mannered, self entitled, over inflated self -esteemed generations joining society.
Its a parents responsibility to get their child to school and if they don't then they should have to pay the price...or better yet...bring back mandatory military service (not combat but service) and those kids (ages 16 and up) who skip school should be the first to be taken and there they will learn respect and discipline.
Northwestern Cans Popular Sexuality Course After Live Sex Act Demo {ParentDish}
May 12th 2011 10:53AM As our culture becomes more liberal, structured organizations (like colleges) are becoming more prudish. The class is Human Sexuality and now the school is acting like OMG can you believe this happened...for petes sake, get over it. It was optional and not mandated and think how much misinformation is out there via internet and second hand info...here it is in a very academic culture getting rid of myths and stories. I thik it is a great format and while I may or maynot attend I would like to have the option if I wanted to.
Can you imagine what barriers and myths could be broken down if we had more situations like this...I wonder if Northwestern has nude models in art classes? Our organized institutions schools, churches etc are becoming more puritan as society as a whole progresses
Brad and Angelina's Strict Nanny Requirements {PopEater}
Apr 21st 2011 9:57AM Maybe before they started adopting and having kids they should have considered their ability to raise the kids. Now it gets to be too much so lets hire someone else to raise them for us...
I think they are nutzzz.
Police Use Pepper Spray to Subdue 8-Year-Old at School {ParentDish}
Apr 6th 2011 3:58PM You know what, the kid states he kinda deserved it and his mother says: no he didn't...I believe the egg donor is poor excuse for a (mother) parent. This child goes to a special school but has not been diagnosed with anything...its called lack of parenting on the supposed parents...if that child had been disciplined and taught limits of what is acceptable behavior he wouldnt act this way.
this is one of the biggest problems with kids today. the parents aren't doing their jobs and hte kids act like heathans and then the parents want to blame everyone else.
Your a parent...take a parenting class...learn how to discipline and set boundaries...Geez...
When I went to school (it wasn't that long ago) we were disciplined in school and when we got home we were disciplined again (and usually worse for acting that way plus embarrassing our parents...Now parents (who I guess are my age) don't discipline and make excuses for their kids poor behavior...and what is the next generation going to act liek when they become adults? SAD!
