10 Signs Your Child May Have ADHD {AOL Health}

Mar 21st 2011 9:22PM Keep in mind, many of the above behaviors are also indicative of chaos at home, the number one cause of childhood emotional and behavioralproblems. Family life should be first on the list of things toassess. Other organic problems, such as Asperger's, should be ruled out, too. Certainly, there is such a disorder as ADD/ADHD, but in my professional experience it is way over-diagnosed. Often, parents prefer the diagnosis to looking at their family system and marital relationship.

Show me a wild kid and I'll find parents who are addicted, indulgent,
harshly strict, indifferent or abusive.

Confessions: Sowing a Career in a Garden Department {AOL Jobs}

Apr 18th 2010 8:54PM Michele - So, you've explained a lot about why I almost hate going into the big (and not so big) nursery centers like Walmart. They get in hundreds of plants. No one waters them. In a week they're drooping or dead. The store throws out a huge pile of them (NEVER are they offered free or at a big discount to customers, and no, 20% off is not enough to make me buy a plant I'll have to nurse back to health). More plants are ordered and it starts all over again... It kills me to see the waste! I was recently in K-mart and many dozens of tulips, daffodils and Easter lilies on their cart were dead a few days before Easter. Why? Because the big multi-tiered cart was parked in BACK of the store by the hardware dept., and without water, of course. In order to notice them and to think of buying them, you would have needed hardware or auto parts, first. This ignorance is the standard in all but real nurseries. I used to be a retail manager, so I know a little something - and that kind of stupidity drives me nuts.

Starbucks goes slutty and wakes up the fringe {BloggingStocks}

May 31st 2008 9:25PM Dear Starbucks,

Your coffee seems to suck, lately - or maybe it's because I moved to southern Oregon from San Francisco and they use the Denny's recipe here...

Anyway, I'm on your side regarding this exceedingly stupid, fanatical Christian group. If you have any balls left at all, DO NOT GIVE IN TO THEM. Do NOT participate in their plan to take over the country!

Sincerely,
Californian stuck in Oregon

Celebrity Culture Creates Death Spiral -- Watch Amy Winehouse Smoke Crack {News Bloggers}

Jan 24th 2008 12:21AM Another factor in this behavior, besides the encouragement of the public and press, is that show biz is heavily populated with people with Narcissistic personalities. Those are people who feel very entitled, don't think the rules apply to them, can't imagine others' emotions, feel they are superior to others, and have an intense need for constant feedback about their importance, beauty, talent, and so on. And, you're right - if that has to be gotten with bad behavior, so be it. This kind of personality is produced by several types of childhoods, and there are plenty of people who have this disorder who don't become celebrities (except maybe in their own minds). There are also plenty of celebrities who were narcissists long before they were famous. But, a celebrity childhood is the absolutely ideal set-up for producing and maintaining a narcissist. Pile bipolar disorder on top of that and you have the public spectacles you're talking about. In the worst-case, you might have death and destruction, too.
