Budget Guide 2013: Orlando {Gadling}

Feb 3rd 2013 12:25PM Yes, stay on South Orange Blossom Trail if you want to see Orlando's criminal underbelly filled with crack dealers and prostitutes. There's a reason that the Sheriff's Office HQ is there - it's close to the crime so they save on gas.

Good bloody God, I can't believe you actually recommended someone stay at the Day's Inn on SOBT. It's a good place to get mugged, shot, stabbed all in the same night.

Instagramming Food: Fun Or Faux Pas? {Gadling}

Jan 26th 2013 1:09PM Hip Hop legend? I don't think there is such a thing.

That aside, I don't spend a lot of time taking iPhone pics of my food. It's something I do now and then if I want to share something with friends. If a restaurant prohibited photography, I would choose another restaurant.

No restaurant can really prohibit photography. They can tell you that you aren't welcome on their property, but it's not like they can legally tell you what to do with your own property - even while in their property. If they say "get out", I'll leave. If they try to tell me that I can't take photos, I'll prove them wrong.

5 Free Things To Do In Orlando That Are Not Theme Parks {Gadling}

Jul 3rd 2012 5:13PM I appreciate that you're showing more to Orlando than the attractions, but Ocala is not quite in Orlando. It's a pretty good day trip away from here.

How Are You Celebrating Earth Day? {Gadling}

Apr 21st 2012 12:10PM I don't celebrate Earth Day because it's another contrived day to promote an agenda of someone who wants to tell you how you should live your life. The environment is not fragile, it is resilient. If you want proof, take a look at recent pictures of Chernobyl. It's one of the worst man-made disasters of all time. We were told that nothing would live there for 50 years or more. Yet, we see that plants have taken over, trees are growing, and even wildlife is making it a home.

That doesn't negate the impact of the disaster, but it demonstrates that the environment is much more resilient than any Earth Day promoter would ever mention.

Times Square's Courtyard Marriott Accused of Bugging Your Internet {Gadling}

Apr 6th 2012 4:04PM Free service? Was he a paying guest in the hotel or was he using free WiFi in the lobby? If the former, then it wasn't "free" WiFi and he has the right to complain.

Rome Set To Close Off Trevi Fountain, Charge Admission {Gadling}

Apr 1st 2012 2:10PM I'm skeptical. So many people come there to capture an image of an iconic element of the city. That dome could be a visual disaster, or maybe it will add an interesting element. It's hard to be sure without seeing the plans, but I'm banking on visual disaster. They aren't trying to make it more beautiful. They're trying to keep people from seeing it. That's never a good thing for photography.

Travel photography: How to make a tripod that fits in your pocket {Gadling}

Nov 3rd 2011 2:33PM I cringe every time I read this tip and someone compares it to a tripod. While it's a useful trick to help minimize shake for some occasions, try taking a long exposure with a string and you'll realize it's no substitute for a tripod.

You want to shoot fireworks, slow down water, or do anything over 1/2 a second, spend some money and get a tripod.

Survey reveals hottest flight attendants - Virgin Atlantic grabs top spot {Gadling}

Feb 15th 2011 1:57PM I wonder how many people will think that's a new song in the video. I think I like the Nina Simone original version better.

Troubled baby gorilla at Disney World being treated like a kid {Gadling}

Jan 18th 2011 2:10PM I'm curious why she has a name. The guides at Animal Kingdom almost bristle when you ask about animal names. When I mentioned Lilly, the man just said, "they don't tell us about those things."

I guess that's not the Disney experience they want guests to have, but it seems that the people who work with the animals need a way to differentiate one from another.
