Going Alone: Tips for a Safe and Pleasant Solo Journey {Gadling}
Aug 10th 2007 3:21PM I nearly always travel solo - I like it so much I spend my spare time writing about it!
I know how it feels to be stranded, lonely and lost... I've been traveling solo most of my life and this still happens to me, although I have a few good tactics for beating the loneliness blues:
- sit next to women on the bus and strike up a conversation
- sit next to any friendly-looking people in a restaurant and do the same - you're pretty safe indoors
- seek out like-minded women - at a cooking or art course or silk-weaving shop or Internet cafe
- go where women go - the market, the wash house
- set yourself a routine - do the same thing at the same time each day - like getting up or writing your blog
There will always be times when you wonder why you ever left home - but the more you travel the better you learn to cope. Sounds like you're doing just fine!
