Aug 11th 2007 1:42PM Pakistan is awesome! I am American born and bred and I bet you can't believe it, but I am actually MOVING there in a few years. Pakistan is not dangerous and it is very beautiful. It is not the brown, mountainous desert everyone seems to think it is, those are just the only parts of Afghanistan they show you on the news. People need to give Pakistan a freakin' break!
Travel Warnings for Americans {Gadling}
Aug 8th 2007 11:31AM I went to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates in Feb. 2002 and I went to Pakistan last summer. I know UAE is not on the advisory, but BOTH places treat Americans WONDERFULLY! I only spent 8 days in Dubai, but I spent 2 months in Pakistan. I spent most of my time in Islamabad (the capitol), but I spent 8 days in Lahore and some time in smaller cities and some villages. All of the people were kind, generous, hospitable, and interested to talk with an American. And guess what, they are open-minded too. By the way, I never ONCE even heard a gun go off. Suffice it to say that what you hear on the news may not be accurate.
