Teens Banned from Trick or Treating {Holidash News}

Oct 29th 2010 12:55PM I believe in tradition - the tradition is giving treats to small children, not teens who run from house to house (or rollerblade) and practically run over the littler ones or knock them off of the porch. It's obvious their parents don't know any better than to allow this type of behavior. I agree with the ban.

Chelsie Hightower Chimes in on Brunogate: 'He Should Have a Little More Class With It' {PopEater}

Oct 1st 2010 9:19AM I agree with Bruno - Michael Bolton was truly awful. And I believe it really was the worst jive I've ever seen on the show. So what's different with saying so or Carrie Ann saying "it was painful to watch"? The producers are right - Bruno does not owe the overly-sensitive Bolton an apology.

Bruno said what he thought. His right to do so is protected by the First Amendment. Bolton should just grow up, get over it, and move on. I, for one, will not miss his terrible dancing.

Which Star Would You Follow to Any Show? {AOL TV}

Aug 29th 2010 3:04PM Already followed Richard Dean Anderson from daytime tv to MacGyver to Legend and Stargate SG-1. I understand he's taking on a recurring role on a show this fall and can't wait to see him.

Don't Forget to Clean the... {Shelterpop}

Jul 26th 2010 8:52AM Dont forget the grate on your cold air return - dust builds up in those little slats, too. Once a month I also remove the heat vents, stick the vaccuum hose down inside, and suck out the dust, pet hair, etc. to keep it from blowing back into the house via the heat/air conditioning.

Going Over the Hill -- the Things That Scare You About Getting Old {Lemondrop}

Apr 8th 2010 2:52PM I always knew that getting old would hurt mentally, but didn't realize how much it would hurt physically. I'm in my early 50s with severe arthritis in my knees. They've both already been replaced. One leg went fine. With the other, everything that could go wrong did and I hurt more than I did when I first hobbled into the doctor begging him to do something. Now they say there's nothing they can do and it will continue to get worse. There is never a moment when I'm not in pain and I can't help but worry that as I get older it will get worse.

My Son Thinks Homework Is Optional! {ParentDish}

Apr 5th 2010 2:39PM I had this same problem with my son. Normally a sweet, well-behaved boy, all of the sudden around age 10-11 he decided not to do homework. I would actually sit with him at the kitchen table and make him do it only to have himn go to school and not turn it in. I spent a full year working with teachers to keep me constantly in the loop about what assignments he had, when they were due, and whether or not he turned them in. Eventually, I just gave up. A psychologist friend of mine who specialized in adolescent boys told me it was natural throughout the animal kingdom for pre-adolescent boys to challenge "the alpha male" for control. So I told my son "you want to be in charge, be in charge. Oh, by the way, here are the things you get just for being my son - room and board, clothes, health care, and transportation back and forth to school. Everything else is a reward for doing well in school - that's all I ask. And, if your grades aren't good enough for you to play hockey, you can go to the rink and explain to everyone why you're not on the ice helping out your team. And, if you get held back a grade, you can explain why to your friends. All because you want to be a grown-up and in charge." As others have said, it took about a semester. Now a senior in college who has been on the dean's list every semester, he says it was the hardest punishment I ever gave him - and thanks me for it.

TSA pulls pants off of elderly man during search {Gadling}

Jul 28th 2008 3:05PM Airport security no longer allows medical documentation -- it is too easy to forge these kinds of documents. I have had both of my knees replaced and have metal rods in both legs. I can no longer walk distances and travel either in a wheelchair or scooter. Airport security waves a wand over each of my legs warning, wherever it beeps, they have to touch. They have always been respectful to me, running the back of their hand over my legs, and across my back where I have a metal implant in my hip. I've learned not to wear an under-wire bra, but when I do, again they use the back of the hand - I've never been felt up. Of course, there are always bad apples in the barrel, but if this slight imposition makes it safer for everyone to fly, I don't allow myself to get all upset about it. The nicer you are to them, the nicer they are to you.

Kazuharu Sakura's Leather Keyboard: Only Touch Typists Need Apply {Switched}

Jun 18th 2008 9:35AM I am, indeed, a touch typist - it's how I learned many, many years ago. I can type approximately 110 words per minute with only one or two errors. But I learned how to type on a keyboard of a standard size. When you shrink the keyboard, you are totally changing the spacing of the keys, which then results in errors. For instance, my right forefinger knows exactly how far it has to go to type a y instead of a u. Shrink the keyboard, and I may inadvertently get a t instead.
