Roman ruins in Turkey to be flooded by dam project {Gadling}

Oct 17th 2010 12:14PM There must be a better solution to this beside covering it thereby putting it off limits forever! If they cannot move all of the artifacts or it would destroy them by removing them from their natural environment, another solution must be found. We cannot recreate this history.

So we've seen it - fine, but what about the people who come after us? Don't they deserve to be able to see it as well? Must we destroy everything in the name of 'progress'? The answer, a resounding NO. Other means must be found for the farmers and their need for water.

It's a bit like moving into a neighborhood directly under the flight path of a major airport. You know it's there with its noise. You move in anyway and then want to remove the airport!

Why Betty White Shouldn't Host a Full 'SNL' {PopEater}

Mar 8th 2010 7:02PM I love, love, love Betty White. I really want her to host Saturday Night Live but
I am concerned with her health at the accelerated pace of their schedule. If they could do her show in two weeks - you know, practice more at a slower pace OR have Any Poehler and Tina Fey both on the show with her and not have so much on the back of Betty White, that would be much better. For Heavens sake, she IS 88 years old - but she is still a killer and I'm betting she will knock our socks off if they do it right!

To my sweet, sweet Betty White - you are a living doll! I wish I knew you or at least had some time to spend just being around you. I KNOW those days would be some of the best days of my life!

So long my darling and Good Luck on your show! I cannot wait until you host SNL!!!

Man Calls Out Killer During His Funeral Procession {Asylum}

Mar 7th 2010 8:47AM I had to wait for something to happen in my life that really required me to stop smoking. Many of you will think my reason for quitting was silly, but it worked!

My reason was, my sister found a dog for me. Since I had wanted a small dog that would be my close companion, I did not think it fair to smoke around him or her and compromise their life with second hand smoke. I started about 2 and 1/2 months before I was to go to Reno to pick up the pup that was just born.

He was a dandy little dachshund whom I named Reno as that is where he was born but I lived clear on the other side of the US in Florida. He is the love of my life as I am alone now.

I have never had another smoke after less than one week and about 6 patches! I am SO glad to be away from that demon. Now I spend the huge amount of money I used to spend on cigarettes on spoiling my dog. That was 3 1/2 years ago now. I am still smoke free and have a wonderful little dog whom I love and who loves me equally. Neither of us suffer from smoking related illnesses, thank God.

I urge you to find something - anything at all that you can use to abate your habit. Use the patch to help you in the beginning if you need to, I did, but I did it in a quick order. Alter your behavior to exclude things you did when you went for a smoke. Like that 'after dinner cigarette'. Don't go outside for that smoke - play with your little bundle of joy instead! You will get a lot more from it, I promise.

CNN's Rick Sanchez Freaks Out During Earthquake Coverage {AOL TV}

Mar 1st 2010 4:31PM I was SO relieved when we (Miami) got rid of Rick Sanchez. Then he showed up on CNN! I was so unhappy. I really wanted to sit down and cry - except he is not on very long during any day. (PTL) For some reason he just rubs me the wrong way. He's uppity when he has no good reason to be so.

If he is on CNN during any given time, I watch something else ~ unless it's a really HOT news day - like just finding out that there was an 8+ earthquake somewhere in the world! Then I might watch him. I would never watch Faux (Fox) News. Those guys are just idiots with huge egos and full of it. They all lean too far to the right. They make the leaning Tower of Piza look like it's standing straight upright. Yikes!

Betty White Should Host 'Saturday Night Live'! Plus: 10 More Potential 'SNL' Hosts {Inside TV Blog}

Feb 15th 2010 9:47PM Seth McFordFairlane?!? What a choice that would be....

I LOVED the football quaterback. He has been the funniest person to host SNL in years! I nearly died laughing over and over again - and he's just a footballer, NOT a comedian. He was absolutely wonderful and I will never forget him and his sketches. WoW. Blown away.

Betty White would be a really great person to have on as a guest host. Remember she is 88, so don't overwork her. She can do whatever you like without going overboard.

She is my secret sweetheart! Well, WAS!

Huggs and kisses to you my dear lady.

A Guide to Meat Cuts {Luxist}

Feb 10th 2010 8:09PM My favorite is a Prime Rib Roast - VERY expensive. Even a standing rib roast is expensive. It's the difference in the grade of the beef. There is Prime, Choice, and select. The lesser grades you probably do not see in the grocery store - like select is not usually available in stores. It has nearly no marbling. Most beef in the grocery store is "Choice" grade. It has to do with the marbling. Then there is aging. Aging breaks down the fibers in the beef and makes it more tender. The best beef you can get is aged, prime beef - also the most expensive as well. Less than 2% of all the beef produced in this country is "Prime" grade.

If you are eating beef, you are probably eating steer which is a "fixed" male. You could be eating heifer which is what a young female is called. More steers are used for eating because females are used for milking as well, depending on the breed, and for breeding. You only need one bull for many heifers so you keep your prized bull or "rent" a prize bull to service your heffers or female cows.

As for steaks, it's purely personal preference. I prefer the club steak which is the standing rib roast sliced into steaks. Porterhouse steaks and filets are also wonderful but I prefer to leave the cooking to professionals! It's a crime to ruin a good filet or any steak by overcooking it. A good restaurant or someone who cooks steaks all the time is a better bet for me. Club steaks are more forgiving along with the less expensive steaks. OK, so that's that.

Any more technical questions? I'm not a butcher but I grew up on a ranch and we grew our own beef and butchered them, aged them and then ate them all the time! Hamburger to filets! I LOVE beef but I do not eat as much as I used to - like only once a week now.

Potent Quotables: Jon Bon Jovi's Bald Move {Spinner}

Jan 28th 2010 8:44PM Jon Bon should STOP shaving his body if he wants more hair! He had plenty of fur on his torso before, then for some inexplicit reason he began to shave his body - what a job that must be every day or so to remove all that hair!
Too bad he cannot put some of his body hair on his head!

By the way, he looks ridiculous without any fur on his body - why did he do that to himself - to get in touch with his feminine side?
