In Praise of Single Mothers: Why I'm Glad I Was Raised by a Single Mom {MyDaily}

Feb 25th 2011 3:14PM I agree with Laura. Being a single parent doesn't always make you a better parent. You're either going to be a good parent or you're not, that's it! I know several single moms and some of them are too busy growing up themselves (my own daughter included) that they don't make the time for their kids, and then there are those like your mom. Parenting is what you make it. I am by no means putting single moms down, but you are making single parenting sound like it's some fairy tale and I can just see it now "Young inexperienced girls thinking it's ok to get pregnant" because single moms will have a stronger relationship with their children. This is of course just my opinion but I have seen both sides and unfortunately statistics are pretty close to reality. Lisa you were just fortunate to have a mother as caring and loving as she is.

Dad Who Stormed Bus Apologizes for Some Actions {ParentDish}

Sep 21st 2010 10:21PM I have a grandson who has Cerebral Palsy and let me tell you this is one grandmother that would gladly do time in jail if anyone bullied him. I would teach those bullies a thing or two. I also have a granddaughter that is a bus rider and in our school district the buses have two adults at all times one is the bus driver and the other is the bus monitor. It makes for a very pleasing ride to and from school. Mr. Jones had every right to protect his daughter. Those bullies should be made to apologize to his daughter on public tv.

Kelle Hampton Touches World With Story of Down Syndrome {ParentDish}

Mar 24th 2010 11:41PM Our first grandchild has cerebral palsy and when he was born I felt like my dreams of playing,reading and all the other fun things grandmothers do with their grandchildren were lost. Little did I know that my grandson would teach me so much. He is now 15 yrs old and I wouldn't trade him for all the "normal" grandchildren in the world. Because of him I now know what a true belly laugh is, because of him I now know that God truly works in mysterious ways and because of him I now know the true meaning of unconditional love. Our family has truly been blessed. And I truly believe that God only sends special children to truly special mothers and fathers (and grandparents)

Osmond's Son Reportedly Texted About Suicide Note {PopEater}

Mar 1st 2010 10:18AM My prayers are with Marie and her family. I pray that God gives them the strength to carry on. I lost my brother to suicide two yrs ago and I know how painful it is. And as for whether or not he was adopted: blood is not always thicker than water, she raised him and loved him that's all that matters. The pain is the same.

Book Researchers Say Photo of Jim Morrison's Ghost Is Real {Spinner}

Oct 12th 2009 9:12PM I personally have lived in three different houses that were haunted. The first one "I" didn't believe. It was my husband,kids and my mother who convinced me. The second one made my husband,my 17 yr old daughter and myself along with my 16 month old grandbaby run out of the house at 3 o'clock in the morning. We had just spent $30,000 dollars remodeling that house and not even a million dollars would have made us go back in that house. The third house was a much friendlier ghost of an elderly woman and we just learned to live with her. My little granddaughter (under age 5) would see her and talk to her. Some people have a 6th sense and are able to hear or see ghost, while other people are just not that sensitive to their surroundings. I was once a skeptic but not anymore. I don't think it's a matter of believing or not but more of a heightened awareness.

Mom Picks Up Daughter On Horse, School Balks {ParentDish}

Sep 9th 2009 12:53AM That principle needs to get some counseling or something. How is picking up a child on a horse any more dangerous than other means of transportation including walking? And to pull the girl back from her mother and refuse to release her? What is wrong with this woman? If that had happened to me I probably would be paying a fine (or doing jail time) for punching that woman out, and I am a grandmother who has never been in trouble with the law. If that principle was so concerned about the child's safety then why did she traumatize the child with her stupid actions? And then the police officer adding to the trauma? Wow, what is this world coming to? I think this principle needs to go work for CPS where more social workers could learn from her and not release kids to parents who are not competent to be parents. This woman and police officers should be fired. I understand that people make bad choices sometimes but when you are dealing with children you better make sure you know what you are doing. And as for the mother; a parent has the right to make a choice as to how they will transport their child to and from school and since school was technically over then they had no legal right to hold the child. What if the mother had "parked" the horse down the street and walked to pick up the child and then gone back and gotten on the horse, what then? Geez, I just don't know what this world is coming to.

A horse is a horse is a horse and it is a form of transportation regardless if you live in rural America or downtown NYC.

I think the city and the school district are sweatting bullets about now.

After Much Thought, LeAnn Announces She'll Divorce Husband {PopEater}

Sep 2nd 2009 9:56AM I agree with Robyn. Where in the article does it say she was cheating for 7 yrs?

I am not condoning her actions but I think that is between her and God and we should stay out of her personal life and go back to enjoying her music and acting talents.

Jennifer Hudson Welcomes a Baby Boy {PopEater}

Aug 11th 2009 11:47PM To Jennifer and David: Congratulations on your new baby.

And for those of you who have nothing better to do with your time and your pea brain: Get a Life!! What difference does it make if a child's parents are married or not? I have seen many screwed up grown ups who came from "married parents" so it does not make a difference if the child is born out of wedlock or not, it's the love and guidance that the child is given that will determine his or her character.

The terms "Out of Wedlock", "Illegitimate" and "Bastard" have no place in society when describing a beautiful, innocent child who has done nothing to deserve name calling.
