Feb 15th 2010 8:45AM The promise of a major reduction in traffic noise is extremely appealing especially for inner-city living. I think we are looking at the problem incorrectly. The safety problem is not the lack of noise of an electric car, but the lack of pedestrian safety solutions for roadways. Roads have been designed for cars first and people second. It is time to change that way of thinking.

Aug 18th 2008 10:01AM The difference is that manufacturing of these batteries can absolutely be moved onshore if necessary. The same cannot be said for fossil fuels.
A bigger problem is coming down the road and that is disposing of old battery cells.
