In Italy's Heel, Obama's A Rock Star {Gadling}

May 15th 2012 5:33PM Alot of really uninformed and ignorant comments here, most not worth the reply, but you are right Jerry. And the Do nothing Senate, even when the Dems were in power, the Right party of NO blocked everything, forcing the President to back down to their zero compromise position on everything and now we have no public option on the health care plan, which would have helped most Americans AND brought down health care costs, So the party of No says, No, and than attacks as to why is there no public option which THEY stopped in the first place!
Second, the party of NO wants to go back to the last ten years of failed BUSH TAX cuts which we all know now with absolute certainty failed and do not work, yet half this country on the right want to go that path , which is austerity like in Europe to favor the wealthy top 1% and lead this economy into further recession. It is incredible. And they on the Right, throw around the "Constitution" like they are law school scholars but are clueless. The President was a Constitutional Law professor and I too studied Constitutional Law and that balance of powers in the Constitution is precisely about interpretation of the law and its application which can be passed upon by the Courts as directly mandated in the Constitution! BTW-I won't reply futher it isn't worth it but for Jerry is correct! Steve B's Go America!

Times Square to get a makeover for less traffic, more fun {WalletPop}

Mar 2nd 2009 10:44AM Rudy, did nothing. He came in right when the Safe Streets program began to click and Clinton funding 100,000 more cops on the street. I know I worked on getting that all going under Mayor Dinkins for four years! Do you think all those cops just popped up and the administration of them etc all happened just because of Mayor Bullyani? That after he was sworn in the criminals ran? Naive....It took over 120 community orgs across the city to work on that and Rudy took credit. New York magazine once did a whole expose on the truth and how itreally was Commisoner Kelly and Bratton that did the work and deserve the credit.

Mar 2nd 2009 10:27AM Godd question Linda. Mayor Tollberg has already allowed what's called "Use" changes to the certificate of Occupancies on parking lot and parking garage owners so they can change to high rises. We have lost tens of thousands of off street parking spaces in NYC which raises the prices of what parking lots are left to park. And that puts more cars out on the street looking for parking. The more over development by this Mayor and his real estate billionaire club the more air pollution, congestion, loss of any sun light by these high rises and on and on. So he blames the car people and taxes them more so only the wealthy are left with cars. Car owners pay many thousands a year in costs(taxes, fees etc) just to operate in NYC>and the non car owners blindly cheer, not aware of the vehicle economics and their contribution to the economy too!

Mar 2nd 2009 10:00AM Sadly the anti auto comments come from those that don't drive in NYC. We need a balance from not the "angry drivers" as one posted, but angry pedestrians seem to ignore the traffic lights too. We must all share the road and work together not pitting driver v pedestrian. The correct answer isn't just for tourists. There is an excitement with vehicles in the mix too. And it is also correct not just in taxis, but anyone driving through themselves or with visitors or passengers who may not have seen all the excitement unless they drive through it, especially at night and then want to come back.. No matter what the outcome I don't trust the Mayor and all the anti vehicle people. There is need for balance and access for elderly and handicapped and small business delivery. I am a third generation New Yorker, but do not knee jerk against cars. Traffic 101 in a big city like NYC, you don't give up roadway, as Mayor Tollberg has done all over the city! That has created more congestion than ever, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE LESS CARS IN THE CITY SINCE 2005!! I work with 200,000 mom & pop businesses across the 5 boros and we need vehicles too.
