Delta Air Lines sends frontline staff back to charm school {Gadling}
Feb 4th 2011 5:40PM This is good news. Every time I fly out of LAX on Delta I run into new heights of unfriendliness. The last time I flew out of there, a woman in a red coat (aren't they supposed to be team leaders or something?) at the ticket counter was so incredibly brusque and rude. I was flustered because we were doing a multi-leg itinerary right before Christmas and trying to get all of my stuff together. I asked her if I could have an envelope for my multiple boarding passes, and she very rudely tells me "we haven't done that in THREE YEARS." Now I always try to smile and engage agents when traveling, but she (and pretty much everyone else I've encountered at LAX) was having NONE OF IT. On the other hand, agents at Chicago and Cincinnati have always been friendly and professional.
Ask Gadling: What to do when you can't fit everything into your luggage {Gadling}
Oct 8th 2010 3:42PM Or... you could stop being a cheap bastard trying to get something for nothing and just PAY TO CHECK YOUR BAG - thus, eliminating the annoyance to your fellow passengers when you take all of your onboard storage space AND all of theirs.
Tips for tippers: it isn't what you expect {Gadling}
Nov 23rd 2009 6:50PM I must be bad. If a hotel charges me a large sum per day for valet parking (and I don't have any choice but to use it), I am not tipping. Not unless the people bringing me my car did something extraordinary to warrant it.
Also, I've never tipped the housekeepers in a hotel. I just feel like these are all parts of their job. We all know that restaurant servers are paid a paltry wage with the assumption that they will make it up in tips, but I don't think the same is necessarily true in other occupations. I'm not saying a housekeeper or valet driver doesn't deserve to earn a decent wage, but their service is merely EXPECTED. If someone went totally above and beyond the call of duty, of course I'll tip. But making it an unwritten rule that you have to tip everyone and anyone you encounter during your hotel stay is asinine and I'm not getting pulled into it.
Fine Living will become the Cooking Channel {AOL TV}
Oct 9th 2009 3:42PM Didn't Fine Living used to be the network that had all of those Canadian-produced Saturday morning shopping shows? Like "The Shopping Bags"? I LOVED those shows. Lots of product comparisons, shopping finds, and shopping tourism. Once those stopped airing, I stopped watching.
Castle: Deep in Death (season premiere) {AOL TV}
Sep 22nd 2009 8:09PM I love, love, LOVE Nathan Fillion, but I find Castle to be completely unwatchable. The "chemistry" between the leads is painfully bad. The lead actress is just awful, and the writing is just yikes! I tried to watch this. I watched it for about 6 episodes, but I just couldn't do it. I want to like it so much!
Dancing with the Stars: Week 6 {AOL TV}
Apr 14th 2009 2:31PM Ah, sadly, me too. Last night I was on the computer and I noticed I had barely seen any of the show. I still deleted it from my DVR immediately after its conclusion, though. I guess I care less and less about the "celebrities" each season. I still generally watch Shawn as well as Lacey, and part of Cheryl's routines. But that's about it. My attention span doesn't even seem to last long enough to make it through a 2 minute dance by anyone else. There are BLOGS to read, people!
The Unusuals: Pilot (series premiere) {AOL TV}
Apr 10th 2009 12:55AM I, too, tuned in for the cast, but this show is a "one and done" for me. Boring, poorly written, trying too hard. I also got the recycled Night Court vibe, and I LOVED Night Court! But I hated this. It put me to sleep multiple times. It actually reminded me of one of those fake TV shows they show you are those scammy "be a TV test audience" events where they really only care about your reactions to the commercials - while keeping you held hostage through several hours of bad pilots that never made it to air.
I have WAY too many other (better) shows to watch than to waste more than 1 hour on this. It's too bad, though. I'm definitely an Amber Tamblyn fan.... even if she is creepily dating David Cross.
Dancing With the Stars: Week 4 {AOL TV}
Mar 31st 2009 3:00PM I love Lacey, but Steve-O has GOT to go. I think all those drugs he used have seriously damaged his brain. There's not much going on up there, and his dancing is just awful. Not even fun to watch like the Woz is.
Big doings on the Big Love finale {AOL TV}
Mar 25th 2009 8:15PM It was Bill's grandfather who was the previoius Prophet, not his father. His father, Frank, is still alive.
Two more seasons of The Simpsons... will it ever end? {AOL TV}
Feb 26th 2009 6:54PM Is it just me, or have there been very few new episodes this season? My DVR only seems to record a new episode once a month or so. They used to have full seasons. Or is my DVR just screwy?
