Teacher Says She Doesn't Regret Punching Student in Face {ParentDish}

Jun 6th 2011 5:54PM Huh? If you are going to post something, you might want to add enough to the post to give an indication of what the he11 you mean.

Do you mean people are union for defending the teacher's right to defend herself, or what? Do you even know what you meant?

Jun 6th 2011 5:49PM Ah, but NOW due to people like you, there is no choice for corporal punishment at all. We no longer have a choice. Teachers had to much "leadway"? In what way? They could punish your child? How is that too much leeway (correct spelling just to let you know, not being snarky)?

I don't know why you distrust teachers so much. I was in public schools for the last 10 years of my primary education and saw many paddlings and not ONCE did I see one where the student did not desererve it (and in many cases much more than they got).

Jun 6th 2011 5:31PM Policies, massive numbers of them and growing as of this moment, have done nothing, nada, zip, zero.

It is time for common sense and decency. Policies are a brick wall behind which the incompetent can hide.

Jun 6th 2011 5:29PM Dixie, did you come to the teacher's aid? Did you DEMAND that she not be suspened without pay? Did you offer to reimburse her for the days she was not paid? If not, why not?

You KNOW your child deserved to be slapped, and you KNOW the teacher should not have been disciplined, yet you did nothing for said teacher?

I would have DEMANDED the teacher NOT be suspeded without pay, and I would have demanded my child to make a public appology to her in front of the class, explaining why his/her behavior was deserving of being LITTERALLY B*tch slapped.

Jun 6th 2011 5:14PM If the parents are abusive, that is equally heinous as if they are too lax. Abuse however has become synonymous with corporal punishment by a certain sector of the public, and that is unforgivable. Either lax parenting OR non-loving administration of corporal punishment, as in violent assault or severe verbal assault is in my opinion a form of child abuse.

IF he has behavioral problems, then he should be in special ed, NOT amongst hopefully mentally healthy students (although I would have to say the girl that was defending him in the video would most likely be a good candidate for special ed as well).

Jun 6th 2011 5:04PM Yes, I have heard he recanted before his death as well. I remember my mother tried his methods out on me when I was a child in the early days after his book's release. Needless to say after I pretty much disproved all of his assertions by becoming increasingly rebelious, she and my father threw his book out, and started punishing me for my behavior. Yes, they even spanked me if I either endangered myself or my siblings. I grew up to be (hopefully I am at least) a responsible person and I can honestly say that, contrary to some's assertions that spanking leads to violent behavior, I have NEVER struck another person, either in anger or otherwise, besides LOVINGLY applying the same level of discipline my parents gave me to my own children. The funny thing about that was I only had to spank each of my three children ONCE. Once they know I could and would if needed, all I had to do was remind them of the experience, and they became civilized in big hurry!

Jun 6th 2011 4:52PM You won't like this reply, but you know deep down in the deepest darkest resesses of your heart it is true:

Because the same people that advocate unions have castrated the ability of the school administrators to discipline children.

Jun 6th 2011 4:47PM Unfortunately, it is indeed members of the liberal train of thought types that have eliminated corporal punishment from schools, along with the result of the 60's "social experiment" spearheaded by Dr. Spock. No, not all liberals were for the elimination of corporal punishment and the concept of "go stand in the corner", but most definitely not any conservatives. That said, most of the time that we see behavior like this child's it is independent of the political stance of the parents, and more about their parenting skills. There are many GREAT liberal and conservative parents, and many LOUSY liberal and conservative parents.

Jun 6th 2011 4:41PM Bully's are the result of ABUSE, not corporal punishment. Paddling a child is corporal punishment. I was paddled in jr. highschood and highschool and by my parents (pretty often because I was mouthy and a class clown) but I and every person I know that I attended school with have NEVER struck another person in anger. In other words, yours is what I refer to as a "false assertion".
