Editorial: it's not my fault your favorite brand sucks {Engadget}

Jun 14th 2010 9:03PM @Chris

Granted, you've observed the "natural selection" in the trend. However, besides "no matter how you write, there'll be rebuttal", do you care to examine why some of your readers love / hate what they read here?

"Download a native Engadget app for the platform of your choice. If you want. No pressure... iPhone, webOS, BlackBerry, Android" What happened to the Nokia one? I remember you guys have a piece that submitting one to Ovi Store. So Nokia has rejected Engadget application?

Nokia N8 goes official: 12 megapixels, Symbian^3, shipping in Q3 {Engadget}

Apr 27th 2010 12:10PM @skyblaze Yes, I was initially skeptical about that too because it's out of the Nokia "tradition" w/ variants in different combos of 3G bands support. Then when I dig up the FCC filing documents... https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/oet/forms/blobs/retrieve.cgi?attachment_id=1272323&native_or_pdf=pdf "The EUT is a 9-band (GSM850/900/1800/1900) and WCDMA Band (I/II(1900)/IV(1700)/V(850)/VIII/) mobile phone with GPRS, EGPRS, HSDPA, HSUPA and WLAN and Bluetooth and FM transmitter." 5 3G bands in 1 Nokia, finally!

One more thing... two iPod touch prototypes with camera briefly show up on eBay {Engadget}

Apr 24th 2010 5:35PM Based on the information shown on the housing, I rather think these are the plausible prototype rejects of the current generation iPod Touch (Model: A1318 / FCC ID: BCG2310 / IC: 579C-2310 ) Remember we have reports / rumours suggest the camera has been scrapped in the later phase of development...

Nokia C3, C6, and E5 try to smarten up the dumbphone market {Engadget}

Apr 13th 2010 1:24PM @JFH

A. Many in the blogosphere - including our beloved Engadget now blog about the wrong spec, i.e. UMTS 850/900/1900/2100, word-for-word from the Nokia "press release" ( http://events.nokia.com/everyoneconnect/pdf/NokiaC6_datasheet.pdf ).

B. Nokia has a track record of being vague about the operating bands of its handsets. A recent example is N97 mini ( http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/devices/nokia-n97-mini/specifications )... also leads everyone to believe it is UMTS 850/900/1900/2100. In fact, there are variants RM-553 (w/ UMTS 850/1900/2100) and RM-555 (w/ UMTS 900/1900/2100).

Nokia C3, C6, and E5 try to smarten up the dumbphone market {Engadget}

Apr 13th 2010 9:43AM Folks,

Regarding the 3G bands C6 supports, don't be fooled by the "press release" that UMTS Band I (2100) / II (1900) / V (850) / VIII (900) in one... As in the typical Nokia tradition, think again!!!

C6-00 / RM-612 / FCC ID PYARM-612:

GSM 850/900/1800/1900
UMTS Band I (2100) / II (1900) / VIII (900)

C6-00.1 / RM-624 / FCC ID PYARM-624:

GSM 850/900/1800/1900
UMTS Band I (2100) / II (1900) / V (850)

What is this Nokia with CDMA? {Engadget Mobile}

Apr 10th 2010 1:39PM The test report just concerns about the 800MHz band operation though.
