news stories about the extinction of the "hippie chimps" (and thinking it terrible) it occurred to me that the problem could be solved by a few caring bigwigs. Say if Bill Gates got the notion to offer a $500 bounty for live chimps the poachers would gladly go for the extra cash. Sure they would have to live in confined sanctuaries,but they would not become extinct! And Bill could use the smartest chimp as poster boy for one of his various enterprises,as well as doing the world a huge favor
