'The Lovely Bones': An Adaptation That Dishonors the Book {Moviefone Blog}

Dec 24th 2009 12:37PM I am all for freedom of speech with books and movies, but I have enough imagination that I really don't need graphic ideas spelled out for me word for word or scene for scene. It speaks of the director's maturity that he left more violence out. If a story is done right, you don't need all the disturbing visuals or Bukowski-esque brutality to get the point across. I've seen enough gore on films already to know what the horrors of rape, murder, car accidents, suicides, etc must look like.

Bush Makes A Big Sacrifice For Troops {News Bloggers}

May 14th 2008 4:51PM That's ridiculous, I don't care whether he plays golf or not. Doesn't bring the troops home. If he wants to show respect, how about benefits for families of the fallen? More protective gear and better equipment for those fighting?

Two more young women claim mistreatment on Southwest {Gadling}

Mar 4th 2008 8:46PM Let them perform community service with UGLY people, so they can get over themselves.

Are you too pretty to fly? {Gadling}

Feb 24th 2008 10:15PM The flight attendants were jealous??? That explains everything. Yes, I too want to look like a porno star and be stuck in high school. And be the butt of the plane. Sounds like fun to me!

Best Videos of the Week, 2/1/08: No. 11 {AOL Video Blog}

Feb 1st 2008 2:40PM Okay, that WAS bad. She was limp and like a string just kinda bobbing along to some unknown rhythm. Did people pay for that entertainment? My teeth aren't great either, but at least I brush them! Sure it's nastiness to say all this, but if you're going to perform, show a little decency to your audience and at least choreograph something that shows you care!

The DL: Bizarro Beyonce Dance Moves {Spinner}

Dec 20th 2006 12:01AM That was a good laugh. I don't hate her, it was just funny. You can't take yourself too seriously and be a celebrity anyway.

Ask StyleList: Dressing your age {Stylelist}

Nov 19th 2006 1:53PM To Sue in #2 comment- that is so true, that woman does look odd- kind of Adams Family. As for dressing your age- in the workplace, sure I agree with the article. As for weekends and casual time- wear what you want. If you can still fit in juniors size and don't have a high income, I say go for it at any age. It's cheaper. People who criticize what you wear really have too much time on their hands.

Are kids getting brattier? {ParentDish}

Aug 20th 2006 1:15PM My child rarely misbehaves in public. I don't have to discipline him to behave in public, he's just shy. I even had people comment that he was well-behaved and doing a good job the last time we went out to a restaurant that had chopsticks. Other people's kids, however- whoah. Some people not only let their kids do whatever they want, they encourage them and call it "confidence." I've also been to a restaurant where a waitress talked down to my companion that had a younger child on the floor. He was about 2 1/2- and that is a hard age to get to sit still. There just should be more understanding and less criticism. It's hard enough to raise a child without everyone pointing out your every false move, especially those that don't even have children to begin with.

It's okay, Britney. We've done it too. {ParentDish}

May 20th 2006 7:44PM The next mishap I would just automatically blame on the media. It's just adding to the worry. Like a mother needs more worries. Really, if we persecute Britney she's gonna have a nervous breakdown, and how is that helping the children?? I'm avoiding these articles from now on. If she wants another one after all this mess, she must really want them.

Another Children's Book Movie {Cinematical}

Mar 23rd 2006 4:30PM No offense to the author, I know it's hard to make it out there... but that idea just doesn't fly. Statues coming to life and making it a series?? And I disagree with it's who you know... some of the most famous authors are total recluses and they just write well. If you write really well- people will want to know you. Not you get to know people and then write and they will help you get your 5th grade writing into print. Most good stories have a good vs evil theme. I wonder what is exactly the good vs evil in Stoneheart? Good and bad statues? Does that depend on the sculpter? I'm not even going to tackle the subject of God and Harry Potter. It's just fantasy, good grief. You could overanalyze just about anything if you wanted... in Stoneheart, don't you think the sculpter would be God-like, especially if they come to life? Seems pretty blasphemous to me, or like idolatry?
