A Homepage for Your Hometown {Portalblog}

Dec 19th 2011 8:12PM I prefer the "old page" because I had 'weather' from 2 other parts of the country shown every day ( for TX and MS, where family reside).

PSA: Studios Have Begun Removing Special Features From Rental DVDs {Moviefone Blog}

Dec 10th 2010 9:48PM I think that the person with 700 DVDs probably is like me .. in that he/she bought them before they discovered Netflix.com! I've got a whole bunch of DVDs .. TRULY. However now I rent from Netflix.com. Love 'em!

PSA: Studios Have Begun Removing Special Features From Rental DVDs {Moviefone Blog}

Dec 10th 2010 9:44PM I'm hearing impaired, too .. and always have the C/Cs turned ON. Most of the time the EXTRAS are not closed-captioned, so they are of no use to me. However, if it is a foreign film, then there are C/Cs for everything.

My gripe is the large amount of Previews that they want you to sit thru before you can see the movie you rented or bought. I can't skip them BUT most of the time I can fast-foward thru them. Neat!

Is Wearing Princess Di's Ring Bad Karma for Kate? {Lemondrop}

Nov 19th 2010 6:25AM If this ring is so great, why didn't Charles give it to Camilla?

Paula Abdul Feels Vindicated Now Regarding Her Ouster From 'American Idol' (VIDEO) {AOL TV}

Oct 30th 2010 1:30PM Paula added a whole lot to the American Idol panel .. a whole lot. I think people loved the sparks that flew between her and what's-his-name. She's fun to watch! The panel is too bland without her.

Bullied Girl With Cerebral Palsy Speaks Out {ParentDish}

Oct 4th 2010 4:42PM Bullies should be expelled from school. Then, if they want to attend school, they (and both parents) should meet with the school principal, be served with a list of proper conduct AND be subjected to some sort of community service with the handicapped for a long period of time.

Cruise Line Cuts Rates for Single Travelers {AOL Travel News}

Jun 27th 2010 11:31PM I'll say it doesn't sound like much of a deal ($4651 for a week) .. that's over $600 a day! Now if they flew you 1st class, well, I'd feel differently, lol.

AOL Mystery Flyer Comes Home {AOL Travel News}

Jun 1st 2010 1:04AM I thought that this was a wonderful article.

Often passengers get swept-up in all the hoops they have to jump thru to even board their plane. You can't plan ahead to use a bathroom if you are held-up in long lines at check-in. Then there is the madness of security checks. Even if you arrive 3 hours before a flight, those lines can eat-up your time. If you have children with you, all bets are off!

I was actually given a free ticket on United for a RT from SeaTac to Hong Kong a number of years ago .. so I flew on 4 UA planes during that trip. The United FAs cater to male passengers .. and ignore female passengers of any age group. No question about it!

On the return flight, after being up all night, landing in SF and going thru customs, when I went to board the plane for the rest of the trip (to SeaTac), the boarding agent tried to force me (and most everyone else in line) to check my carryon. She said it was a fully-booked flight and there wouldn't be enough room. My bag was packed with my meds and also a few breakable souvenirs, so I did not want to check it. Since it was not overstuffed by any means, I just carried it onto the plane and placed it under my seat (I am 5 feet tall, so I like to use my bag as a footrest).

Another time, I flew to Japan on Thai Airlines and it was the most wonderful flight! So much attention from both male and female FAs. Great food, wine with dinner and free cocktails in those days (I don't know about today, lol). The return flight was on Japan Airlines .. and like United, alas their FAs cater to male passengers.

I have also flown with China Airlines. Another lovely trip. Philippine Airlines also a winner.

I flew Continental RT from SeaTac to Dallas with my 8-year old son .. and it was also an enjoyable flight. Both ways.

If you want to fly to Europe, I recommend British Air non-stop from SeaTac to London. And talk about service, meals and friendliness! Wow.

As far as flying dirt-cheap, who are these people trying to kid? Even if you buy from a consolidator, you still pay big bucks for a ticket to most anywhere in the world! At least anywhere that I want to go.

I suggest that the airlines go by the Nordstrom motto. They say that they hire NICE people, because you can teach anyone to sell, but you can't teach people to BE NICE. BTW, their first stores were opened in the Seattle area.

One more thing .. I haven't flown since before 09/11. It just sounds like too much trouble to me. I'm retired now and always on vacation. Also I don't need the stress.

Nike, Tiger: Marriage of Slime, Scandal {Fanhouse Golf Blog}

Apr 8th 2010 1:45PM Why would anyone buy Nike products? They are made in another country .. with cheap labor .. and the product is NOT what it used to be when it was made in America. However, the prices are still the same.

And what makes people want to wear things that have the makers' logo or name emblazoned onto it? Tasteless.

Is Tiger Woods Leaving the USA for France? {PopEater}

Jan 31st 2010 7:55PM It seems as though people have forgotten that Princess Diana was hounded (to death) in Paris, France. So I tend to think that the media are just as crazy there as here.
