Jun 21st 2007 8:15PM While Cordyceps are indeed a fungus, it's a fungus that specifically invades a worm and grows in it. Then the Coryceps is typically harvested out of the stricken worms.
The candied cordyceps pictured appears to be taking the worm and candying it. Which is slightly unpleasant for the uninitiated I'm sure.
