House Passes Health Care Overhaul in Historic Win for Democrats {Politics Daily}

Mar 22nd 2010 9:56AM Unfortunately, the Republicans claimed our government/president is spending money that we don't have and they don't admit that a Democratic president, former president Bill Clinton, left us with a full bank account and a Republican president, former president George W. Bush, emptied the bank account and dug a deep financial hole for our country. We'll make more money, we'll end this war, we'll all be insured and hopefully, the Republicans will join us. Kate :)

What Size Should Models Be? {oldstylelist}

Aug 11th 2007 9:15AM i'm 5'91/2",weigh approx 145lb and this year i turned 50 (woooohoooo!!). i am gorgeous (naturally)and always have been. people would stop me and compliment me on my physique, my face, my stature and my grace (it was very weird when i was in my young teens years, but i got used to it, thanked them and let it go).
on the flip side of that, people would approach me and tell me that i needed 'to eat something' before i die, that i was 'so lucky to be so thin' (as if i had a choice), that i had 'no idea what real life was like for the rest of us', because i was so thin and lovely. i was often told how easy it was for me to find clothes and the i was 'so lucky'. it has NEVER been EASY to find clothes.
the designers and factories don't really make them (although, in the last 20 years, a few (less than a handful) have added some clothing for tall (not so much for thin)women to their lines) for my size. they show their lines in my size, then make the clothing in 'normal'/'average' sizes. leaving me to fend for myself. i cannot buy sweaters, blazers, blouses, suits, coats that fit properly or look nice (my arms are too long...i am, again...over 5'9"),but strangers took it upon themselves to tell me how 'lucky' i was to be soooo model thin.
i never modeled. i'm quite camera shy and i really don't want/need the extra attention.
almost my entire adulthood is weighed in the 125-135 lb range (the 10 extra pounds were 'winter weight)completely naturally. no diets (i hate lettuce!)ever, no weird weight-loss 'supplement's', no anorexia, no bullimia.
i have always amazed (probably more like 'shocked' them...lol) with the amounts of food i consumed...like a pack of wolves...no kidding. ex. 3 burger king whoppers/cheese, large fry, large soda was no problem at all for one meal...and i could eat 4 or 5 times a day (and did).

with that said, i was/am a truly naturally thin, tall, beautiful (thank you GOD(!)) woman, but young impressionable models will do anything asked/required of them to attain what i was given naturally...at the expense of their health (present and future)and self-esteem (the emotional crashes that come with not being 'good enough', 'pretty enough', 'thin enough', etc. can/will lead to grave consequences)and potentially their personal safety.

each and every one of us is beautiful...setting 'standards' (especially, seriously unattainable standards) is disgusting and dangerous. look around...my (natural) body style is in the ultra-minority. let's see more 'majority' figures, then when we go to purchase the products (clothing,etc), they will actually fit!!! what a concept...ohmygosh! lol.
after 40, (it's true what your mama said about 'after 40'!!! lol), my metabolism slowed down and of course menopause came along and added a bit of its own compliments to my figure.
now, i eat two burger king whoppers/cheese, fry and soda (usually large size)i have a little more curviness, but not too much.
i love what age has done to my body, it's so beautiful.
it is of the utmost importance that young models (and aspiring models) provide their bodies with all the nutrients growing/evolving bodies need (and our bodies are always growing/evolving)and that they love themselves enough to seek help when they are pressured to become a size that they are not naturally.
also, other model, agency reps, photographers, etc., (those in the industry, closest to the models) are not/should not be the people that decide the weight/eating habits of the models...ever, as they have their own personal agendas pushing for extremism as far as the models weight is concerned.
it's not the models that perpetuate the images/weight/standards, it's the 'industry' as a whole, including, but not limited too; the agencies, the photographers (oh yes, they ask/demand certain 'types') and the clothing designers (don't let them off the hook on this one...they all wimp out and say that the rest of the 'industry' is the problem...grow some gones and change it).
the 'industry' really needs a major overhaul and they need 'watchdogs' to protect the young, impressionable models.

How to Break Your Cell Phone Contract {Switched}

Jun 30th 2007 4:28PM i used to work for the phone company and got a great discount, so i got a cell phone thru work...but, with the guarentee that it would have service where i live (about 7 miles from work). not only did i not have service, but i was parked outside work one afternoon and i was 'out of area'!!! it took 90 days to get a refund on the phone and contract cancellation straightened out, so be carefull. your time and nerves are worth far more!!

Fairmont Man'cation Packages {Luxist}

Jun 12th 2006 11:39AM i think it's a great idea!! i encouraged my husband to have 'boys night out' at least once a month.
it gave him 'time off' from household/family stress.
he had a luxury dinner, drank fancy scotch/sherries, smoked expensive cigars. sometimes, they went golfing, boating, played tennis, rode motorcycles, backpacked, then went to dinner.
it was excellent for our relationship. he didn't feel as though he wasn't 'one of the guys' anymore. he wasn't spending all his free time with me.
when we did spend our free time together, it was much more enjoyable, relaxing and intimate.
gals go to spas, lunch, shopping, movies and dinner together, why not men? k
