L.L. Bean's new Signature line: The preppy look gets a risky makeover {WalletPop}

Mar 27th 2010 9:03AM Face it, the L.L. Bean we all knew has been gone for years. Nothing is ever in stock anymore, its all cheaply and poorly made in China, and if you like something, its gone the next year like all the fashionable chain products.

There are certain die-hard styles that should always be available; like scandinavian style polarfleeces, or dependable fair isles sweaters. But no, its now a different flavor of the month.

I bought a wonderful bag from L.L. 10 years ago that I still have and people still ask me where I got it. It is supple, thick, shiny, high quality leather that becomes more beautiful with age. It has thick, rolled, beautiful straps. I bought a new one recently, and its a piece of garbage. Cheap, cardboard stiff leather that marks up immediately, and the strap started shredding 2 months after buying it.

If I wanted Old Navy, I would go to Old Navy.

L.L. Bean, I and thousands others loved you. R.I.P.

After Anti-Gay Cartoon, How Will Notre Dame Respond to Outcry? {Politics Daily}

Feb 16th 2010 9:31AM What a hyprocrisy. Most Catholic priests are closet gays, anyway. Catholic institutions should be more tolerant than most.

Woman Jailed For Dragging Kid on Leash {ParentDish}

Aug 5th 2009 11:39AM Parents in England always leash their toddlers, for their own safety. When I live in the U.K., I kept my little son safe on a harness. He couldn't run into the road when walking to town, and since he was still a little unsteady on his feet, it helped keep him upright. He was so happy to be able to walk into town with me, and I also had the peace of mind that no one could snatch him.

Americans are not accustomed to this practice, so they immediately think "leash/dog", this is simply not the case. It is a safety issue, especially if you live in the city or a busy town.

The Simple Lessons: Prison Edition {This Just In}

Jun 14th 2007 5:24PM You are extremely MEAN. This is not the first time I have seen this kind of rubbish on AOL. I don't believe that AOL should sponsor this kind of mean-spiritedness. No wonder our wonderful nation is turning into such a nasty junkhole.
Sincerely,
Christine
