Murdoch dishes on Fox News feuds with White House, MSNBC {Daily Finance}

Nov 5th 2009 11:28AM I used to watch MSNBC's Chris Mathews et al until they went overboard in obvious and overwhelming support of Obama in last year's election. I knew then they were not to be trusted. MSNBC did try to correct it by moving Chris and Keith away from the coverage, but the die was cast as far as I was concerned. One positive: in spite of the different views, the media was right to support Fox against the WH. I'm proud of them for that.

Not the American Dream, but Give Yankees Props {Fanhouse MLB Blog}

Nov 5th 2009 11:10AM I'm bemused with the second guessers questioning Joe Girardi's 3-man rotation strategy. It worked. He is the COO of the year, if not the CEO. Veteran Matsui came thru big-time last night; wish he'd show a little more emotion. Ole Damon is a pretty pesky batter. A-Rod redeemed himself this year. Rivera invinceable as ever. Yanks just outdid the Phillies that's all in all categories. Best team won. Big accolade and special mention to Chase Utley even though he doesn't look like a ball-player but more like a Yuppie from Wall Street.

Stanley buys Black & Decker for $4.5 billion in sound strategic merger {Daily Finance}

Nov 3rd 2009 11:22AM Probably a great strategic move for both companies for the long-haul. Right now, as this article suggests, both manufacture products directed mainly at the consumer/DIY market which is undergoing a major doldrum, let alone the construction industry. Unfortunately for those connected with the two will witness some major lay-offs. It always happens after a merger.

Shamefully, Agassi Fails the Trust Test {Fanhouse Tennis}

Oct 31st 2009 12:38PM 3rd party criticisms aside, only Andre must deal with this issue his own. I always thought it was Brooke Shields who was responsible for his fall from grace as tennis player during that time. My apologies to her.

Fed holds its meetings at posh resorts, too -- but taxpayers don't foot the bill {Daily Finance}

Oct 31st 2009 12:58AM The Fed is totally out of sync with the current state of the economy as it is. I don't believe for minute Uncle Sam is not be saddled with the expenses. No one in his right mind would be attending the conference at their own expense without being compensated for it. Something smells with the Fed's explanation. Just be upfront about it - that's all I ask.

Why Is Dick Cheney Helping Obama? {Politics Daily}

Oct 24th 2009 12:38PM If the Administration is basing their Afghanistan decision for political reasons, it is unforgivable. For now, I'm giving Obama the benefit of the doubt and hope he comes up with clear and decisive plan as a president should. Longer he delays, the worse it gets.

Jay Leno Show: NBC's prime-time experiment is drifting toward failure {Daily Finance}

Oct 21st 2009 1:02AM I watched the Jay Leno Show and liked it. Like many Tonight Show fans, I often forget that he is on at 10pm. It will take a while for viewers to adjust to his new time slot. It'll take another 6 -12 months to get him back on track where he needs to be. Local news stations ought to advertise to remind us to watch him.

Galleon rivals look to profit as hedge fund sinks {Daily Finance}

Oct 21st 2009 12:52AM What is the exact definition of insider trading? Raj may base his defense on that question. Was the data he received from his informants really actual information or just rumors or opinions based on the skuttlebutt inside the targeted corporations? The current list of defendants appears not to include the major players in the performance of their official duties with direct knowledge of non-public information of those businesses he made a small fortune from. It's not clear whether Galleon or just Raj and his co-conspirators benefited from these questionable transactions. Let's hope it's the latter and thereby removing any possibility of Galleon as a corporation being fined by the SEC and Feds for untoward business practices.

Girardi's (Over?)-Managing Steals Show {Fanhouse MLB Blog}

Oct 20th 2009 1:41PM Baseball appears to have become a science and statistical data. I marvel how pundits and managers cite all the stats in every situation they come up with. Boggles the mind and abandons clear thinking about the purity of the game. But it adds drama to the play-offs. Good stuff.

Spielberg Vs. Hanks -- Who Grabs the Check? {TMZ}

Oct 18th 2009 12:35PM I'd say Steven did. Approachment to discuss future project with Hanks for Dreamworks. The two make good movies together for sure. Actors never or expect to pay the tab.
