Aug 13th 2011 4:57PM Other than as a muffler in winter I think the "scarf" is the ultimate fashion spoiler. I see it as camouflague for wrinkled necks. It is totally a froo -fra excess. It detracts and distracts from every outfit and I cringe when I have to converse with someone with a ridiculous piece of fabric draped purposeless about their person.

Nov 7th 2010 10:17AM I could not agree more. I've never coached, but my daughter played lacrosse through college. I saw this exact thing happen in summer lacrosse. The father of one of the players on a high school team would scour the region for elite players months ahead. My daughter happened to be his choice for goalie. I didn't see it at the time and as a parent you love to see your child on a winning team. But half way through that summer I realized that it was an embarrassment and unsporting. he was the quintessential "sports parent" who lost sight of the sport.

Oct 14th 2010 3:39PM I lost my passport at Charles de Gaulle airport. I missed it immediately and contacted security but it never turned up. It was wearying, but I checked into an airport hotel and took the metro to the American Embassy. I waited all day but left with a temporary passport.
I'd always worried about what I'd do if I lost my passport. Now the fear of the unknown has been removed. I have traveled in the Middle East including the UAE and I think I would feel confident that one extra day is all that would be needed to get a replacement.
I agree that providing this woman with shelter for 5 days was generous. But where was the professional to step up and actually help her solve her problem i.e. get on transport to the Indian Embassy?
