Dec 6th 2009 11:58AM This is a bit of a strawman argument, as a j2me developer it's not uncommon to port one game to 200+ handets.
Yeah some smaller developers will be pushed out of the ranking tables but is that such a bad thing? They still have access to the marketplace and can release games onto as many devices as they are able to, even support for one device will give them access to the marketplace. Compare this to the J2ME market where they would get 1/1000th the number of eyeballs looking at their game.
For the bigger companies Android has a ridiculous number of advantages over J2ME with the UI elements, expanded API and better security controls.
-J2ME application are still the largest profit earners for the majority of large mobile companies since the prices tend to be a lot higher than on the marketplace/iTunes and there are many more devices that support it.-

Oct 4th 2009 2:24PM All the numbers in this article don't really mean anything (although the % changes are a good indicator) since every country records unemployment differently. For example if you has quoted the US rate based on U6 you could have seen a rise from 10%-16%
Still a worrying rise around the globe...
