Verizon wonders if it's "backwards day" at AT&T {TUAW.com}
Jan 11th 2011 11:02AM I still don't see the big deal about Verizon. Am I wrong that Verizon's network does not allow someone to be on the phone and the internet at the same time? I know a lot of users say that don't use their phones this way, but I often do. If it does not do what ATT's system does, how can it be better? And is this double usage why ATT does sometimes operate poorly?
Apple no-cash policy for iPad takes some by surprise {TUAW.com}
May 18th 2010 8:50PM Bigger issue with the "no cash" policy, the Apple stores are using the iTouch and credit card reader using their LAN/WiFi system. The head of my companies MIS department recently purchased an iPad at an Apple store and someone stole his and a friends who was purchasing at the same times credit card information by hacking the WiFi system. Pretty shoddy security by Apple.
Tamrac Zipshot Tripod review - lightest full size tripod in the world {Gadling}
Apr 15th 2010 2:06PM Used one last month on a trip to Vietnam and Siem Reap, Cambodia- must have been stopped 10 or 12 times by people as they saw me pull it out and use it to take shots. Works great with the Canon G9- which is my current travel camera.
$1000 iPhone law exam review app sends traditional publisher running for cover {TUAW.com}
Feb 16th 2010 4:15PM As someone who has used BarBri to prepare for two (separate) state bar exams, and who worked for BarBri as a student rep, this is significant. BarBri was a great prep for the exams, but the cost is certainly something that deters users from the add ons. Over the years they have become the largest if not only prep course in some states and may have gotten to the point that some competition of this type (technological and pricing) was the only thing that would push them to change their offering and pricing.

Microsoft confirms retail stores coming this fall {Engadget}
Jul 15th 2009 6:32PM The critical difference is that Apple Stores are a one stop shop. They can handle software and hardware issues, and I am not talking sales, I am talking service and training. Unless they get approval to work on multiple PC's, I can't see a Microsoft store offering instant service gratification in the way that Apple does. Keep in mind that with the exception of Zune, Microsoft does not make hardware or have to service it or even have to deal with software hardware interface issues. If Microsoft is willing to take walk in problems for software issues for Dells, Gateway, Acer etc. if may work. But I am not holding my breath.
I don't think this is being overly harsh on Microsoft, just the reality of not being a hardware producer as well as a software producer.

Europeans scrutinize Apple's control tactics {Engadget Mobile}
Jun 11th 2007 11:13AM Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the EU have rules that require operators to unlock phones?
