Aug 12th 2007 10:35PM Big league baseball treated Babe Ruth very, very badly especially since he practictly saved big league baseball after the Black Sox debacle of 1919. The Babe re-kindled fan interest in the game when he started hitting those prodidgeous clouts that went for unheard of distances. Fans flocked back to the statiums to see the Babe and they filled the seats after being disillusioned by the White Sox scandel in the world series. It seems to me that baseball ought to have a special day each and every season honoring the Babe for what he did for the game.

Jun 19th 2007 2:01PM I lived in Ocala, Florida for 15yrs recently moved to Arizona and I hate it. High temperatures, no grass, lots of dust, prices are about 20% higher on everything. Just a bum place to live. Thinking about returning to Florida.

Jun 1st 2007 6:25PM From observing this fracas on TV it looked to me like Zambrano instigated the whole thing. He walked towards Barrett, pointed to his head and seemed to be in a beligerant state......I have no way of knowing what was said but it is well known that Zambrano has a short fuse. The ARod for Zambrano trade seems like a good deal now for the Cubs, alto it didn't earlier.

May 30th 2007 10:32PM I think what the media and fans alike forget is the fact that the major reason for the difference between modern day ball players and the ones from "Babe Ruth's" day is the obscene salaries these guys make. These gargantuan contracts alone make these guys celeberties and therefore subject to the scrutiny of one and all. I remember when the Pittsburgh Pirates brought up a second baseman named "Pep" Young, when he first came up in about 1932 the Buc manager said that he knew Young was a light hitter but a great fielder and if he could hit .260 he would be invaluable. Today a guy who hits .260 is sought after and lured with a contract for several mil......what a crock....Bob
