You can skimp on your underwear needs if you go cotton-free. These boxer briefs from EMS are very comfortable, dry fast after hand washing and are cheaper than other brands. Ditto the socks, which might not be as good as Smart Wool, but I wear my socks out on a long trip (since I only bring 2-3 pairs) so I usually end up throwing them out when I come home. 05/02/09
