Established in 1897 as part of the Union Mining District, this town was largely abandoned by 1911 after the Panic of 1907 (a financial crisis when the NY Stock Exchange fell close to 50% from its peak the previous year). The town is now on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of a Nevada State Park.
