Apalachicola, Florida
Although a coastal Florida town, this is no Miami; if you come visit Apalachicola, you are probably coming for its renowned sea-food and small-town charm. In the early 1800's the city was developed as a port for the cotton trade between Europe and New England. Victorian homes and magnolias still line the streets and make for a quaint afternoon walk. For those travelers who want a little more outdoor action, take time to visit the offshore barrier islands, home to an assortment of pristine beaches that encourage exploration by kayak.
