London, UNITED KINGDOM: A British Airways 747 aircraft lands at Heathrow Airport in London, 10 August 2006, on the day that a plot to blow up planes flying from the United Kingdom to the United States and commit 'mass murder on an unimaginable scale' has been disrupted. Authorities in Britain said Thursday they had thwarted a terrorist plot to wreak 'mass murder' with the simultaneous mid-air bombings of planes to the United States, and ordered a maximum security alert that snarled air traffic around the world.
