Perhaps the most sacred cow of travel equipment, the roller is actually not all that practical if your itinerary extends beyond shuttling between hotel and conference center. Try pulling one along cobblestone streets or through a busy train station. And they discourage thoughtful packing. You'd pack a lot lighter if you actually had to carry the thing.
