Credit cards are a travel necessity, but they can also be a major pain in the backside. Oversensitive fraud blocks, canceled cards and other issues can severely mess up your plans. Some countries have rules in place for credit card use that means you may need to dig up cash for your purchase, and in the recent economic malaise, some credit card issuers have simply canceled cards of people who are abroad, without telling them in advance.
