The hotel "walks" you (3 of 10)

The hotel

Walking is the hotel equivalent of airline overbooking. Hotels gamble that a certain number of guests won't show up. Like all gambles, this one has the ability to go sour. When you arrive at your hotel, with reservation in hand, you'll be told that they have no rooms. In the best case, they'll have booked you a better room somewhere else. In the worst case, they'll shrug it off and send you out on your own. 11/06/09
