Scuba diving is a hobby that many travelers enjoy. People traverse the globe looking for the best dive sights and new adventures. While most scuba divers consider any excursion in which they see a new fish or sea creature a success, the young man in this video had a bigger catch in mind: his girlfriend. He proposed underwater in Riviera Maya, Mexico after plotting with the dive crew for six months leading up to the trip. The YouTube video description provides more details:

Once in the water, we dived for approximately 25 minutes until we both sat on the bottom of the ocean floor with fish, turtles, and lobsters all around. Once we sat, Emily thought we were actually taking a group picture. She had no idea she was about to be engaged!

I pulled out a board that I had written on, "I love you so much. Will you marry me?" I pulled the ring out of a shell that I had hidden it in. She was so confused she didn't know what to do. Also, with scuba diving, you can't give a thumbs up, because it simply means to surface, so we we're left to enjoy out satisfaction with the "OK" sign.

OK indeed.
Video Of The Day: Scuba Marriage Proposal In Riviera Maya, Mexico originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 09 Apr 2012 21:00:00 EST. Spring is here, which means we'll all be heading back onto hiking trails and into the woods for camping trips. Of course, we're not the only species taking advantage of everything nature has to offer. We share trails, forests and just about everything else with all manner of animals big and small. Thanks to a well-placed camera, we can now see what happens in the woods when we're not there. As expected, it's all dance parties, popping and locking. After sleeping for months, you'd be ready to bust a move, too!
Video Of The Day: Bear Dances In The Woods originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 02 Apr 2012 18:30:00 EST. No matter what you think of cruises - and they are a polarizing force in the travel world - this video is pretty captivating. From Alaska's icy waters to the coasts of Croatia and the buffets in the bowels of the boats, we get a sense of just what you can see and experience while traveling in a mobile metropolis. And the best part of the video? No Dramamine is necessary to enjoy it!
Video of the Day: Time lapse of cruises in Europe, South America, the Caribbean and Alaska originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 26 Mar 2012 18:30:00 EST. Traveling with disabilities poses its own set of challenges. However, challenges can be overcome. That's what makes this video so inspiring. Not one to let her paralysis keep her from enjoying an adventure, this paraplegic woman bungee jumped - with her wheelchair - off a bridge in Whistler, BC. The next time you're feeling skittish about hitting the road, trying something new or testing your limits, remember this girl. I'm pretty sure she could kick my ass.
Road trips are great. Road trips in foreign countries are an adventure. In this time-lapse video, travelers make the drive from Quito, high in the Ecuadorian mountains, to the coast. It's amazing to see the climate and topography change as the trip takes them from an elevation 9,350 feet down to sea level. The only things we're still curious about are the snacks that they packed for the ride!
Video of the Day: Quito to the Ecuadorian coast originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 12 Mar 2012 18:30:00 EST. Zion National Park in Utah is one of those places that exceeds expectations and defies explanation. I might just be partial to it because I'm getting married there in June, but it truly is an awe-inspiring place. Red rocks line steep canyons and wild flowers dot the horizon. It's difficult to imagine what early settlers of the West must have thought when they came across Zion. This video shows two days in the life of Zion in January of this year. The whole video is gorgeous, but the trip through the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel is a highlight for sure.
Video of the Day: Two days in Zion National Park originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 05 Mar 2012 21:30:00 EST. Carnaval (or, as we like to write it, Carnival) was last week, but we're just not done celebrating here at Gadling HQ. This video is from Carnaval 2011 in Rio de Janeiro, but we can't stop watching it. Of course, we love tilt-shift and this video uses the technique perfectly. Though, we'd like some explanation about why it opens with someone getting rescued from the ocean by a helicopter. Well, Carnaval is crazy like that.
Video of the Day: Tilt-shift Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 27 Feb 2012 18:00:00 EST.

We came across this Southwest Airlines ad from 1972 and, well, we're pretty speechless. It's simple and to the point.

Remember what it was like before Southwest Airlines? You didn't have hostesses in hotpants. Remember?

No wonder Southwest Airlines doesn't charge to check bags. Luggage doesn't take up much space when your clothing is that small.
Video of the Day: Southwest hotpants originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 20 Feb 2012 19:00:00 EST. Travel experts love to share tips on the best ways to pack. Heck, we've done tons of posts on packing tips. However, thanks to the sorcery in this video from Japan, we've discovered the best way to fold our clothes. Of course, first we have to understand what the hell is happening in the video. We've watched this thing a dozen times and still have no idea how these shirts are getting folded so perfectly. We'd love to have our clothing pack down so tightly and neatly, but we're having a hard time following once that twist and flip move happens. Guess we're just going to have to shove our gear in our packs, as usual, and spend our days attempting to fold the fitted sheets for our mattresses. Are there any Japanese videos for that?
Video of the Day: Japanese folding trick originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 18:00:00 EST. Extreme cold and snow have gripped parts of Europe in ways that the continent has not experienced in years. The images of people struggling to cope with the elements are chilling (no pun intended). Even in Split, Croatia, a coastal town on the Adriatic Sea, snow has blanketed the beaches as temperatures have plunged nearly 30 degrees below average for this time of year. Seeing people walk along the palm tree-lined shore as snow falls unrelentingly is almost too incongruous to process.
Video of the Day: Snow on the beach in Split, Croatia originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 06 Feb 2012 18:00:00 EST. Imagine if you could fly. Not in an airplane or a helicopter. I mean, you could fly like Superman. How amazing would it be to soar through cities and observe everyone from above. Well, imagine looking up and seeing three people flying around New York City. That's what must have happened when people saw these human-shaped remote control airplanes circling around New York. It looks like it might just be a promotional video for the new film Chronicle, but that doesn't make it any less awesome. Time to stare out there window and wish for some superpowers.
Video of the Day: Flying People in New York City originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 30 Jan 2012 18:30:00 EST. I hate scary amusement park rides. I understand that some people love roller coasters and loops and sudden plunges into dark caverns, but it's just not for me. You can save your trips to Cedar Point and roller coaster road trips for someone else. Because, quite frankly, the looks on the faces of the two men in this video, combined with their deafening screams, basically sum up how I react to amusement park rides. Theme parks can be fun but mostly because so many of them serve turkey legs.

And seriously, that was not a countdown!
Video of the Day: Sheer terror on the Slingshot originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 23 Jan 2012 20:15:00 EST. If you've traveled to any of the Commonwealth nations, you've likely encountered cricket on television or in the newspapers. You may have even gotten stuck in a conversation about it while having no clue what anyone is saying. Heck, you might have even played it...poorly. Americans don't understand cricket. Is it like baseball? What's a wicket? Why does a match take so many days? Thankfully, one America has taken it upon himself to help us all learn about the game. Sit back, relax and let comedian Reginald D. Hunter explain the ins and outs of cricket. I think you'll see that it's a lot simpler than you feared.
Video of the Day: An American explains cricket originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 16 Jan 2012 20:00:00 EST. Road trips seem to be a very American activity. Driving cross-country, family vacations to national parks and the like. However, road trips are popular around the world. Caravanning (what we would call RVing) is quite popular in the UK. Also, because European countries are so much smaller than the United States, driving within a country or to neighboring nations is pretty simple. This video shows off the 96km drive from Brussels to Bruges. It's oddly comforting to know that highway driving in Belgium is pretty similar to interstate driving in the United States.
Video of the Day: Brussels to Bruges in two minutes originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 09 Jan 2012 18:30:00 EST. Preparing your own meals while on the road can be tough. You don't always have a proper kitchen stocked with all of the tools and appliances that you need. Ingredients can be difficult to find. Still, at least we always have gravity to help us out. Not so for astronauts. When it's dinner time, they have to assemble their tacos in zero gravity. The last thing that anybody wants is refried beans in the ventilation system. Think of this guy and his space taco the next time you want to complain that the kitchen in your RV is too cramped.
Video of the Day: Making tacos in space originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 02 Jan 2012 18:30:00 EST. We at Gadling love a good time-lapse video. Whether it's at a busy airport in Moldova or the many personalities on the streets of Laos, there's something about seeing life pass by at fast (or slow) speeds that's entrancing. With Christmas a few days away and Hanukkah in full swing, we especially love feeling festive without the crowds, the cold, and the hassle. Today's Video of the Day is perfect for getting into the seasonal spirit of New York City without actually being there. Photographer Cris Magliozzi of health, fitness and happiness website Greatist shot the video on a walk from Central Park to Rockefeller Center, taking in some of the city's best decorations, carolers, ice skaters, and other revelry. Bonus: no holiday music! Think of it as our gift to you.
One of the best aspects of hiking is the escape that it provides from your everyday life. Getting lost - even briefly - in nature allows you to forget that the rest of the world exists. But what happens when you leave the trail and return home? Someone up in Maine decided to plant a remote camera along a trail that cuts through his property. Along with hikers, he recorded footage of moose, deer and even a bear traversing the exact same trail. It's an eery reminder that while you're hiking, you're in animals' homes.
Video of the Day: Remote camera captures action on Maine hiking trail originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 19 Dec 2011 18:30:00 EST. If you have dogs, you know that car rides can be an adventure. Whether you're on a road trip, running errands or just taking your pups to the vet, time in the car with dogs is always interesting. I have two dogs and they couldn't be more different in the car. We take our dogs camping, on hikes and to family gatherings. Our little guy curls up in a ball and sleeps. Our black lab mix, however, barks, spins in circle and, if we let him, sticks his nose out of the car. He then makes strange horse noises. I remember, as a kid, seeing dogs heads sticking out of cars and thinking that they looked so happy. It's a dogs life out there.
Video of the Day: Dog in Cars originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 12 Dec 2011 18:30:00 EST. Everyone I know who has spent any time in Vietnam has bemoaned how challenging it is to cross the streets there. It's like a game of Frogger, but the stakes are much higher. This time lapse shows just how chaotic and frenetic the streets of Ho Chi Minh City actually are. The number of motorbikes along is staggering. Add to that roundabouts, limited traffic signage and pedestrians and you have yourself some organized chaos. We recommend that you look both ways (heck, look up and down while you're at it) before crossing the street.
Video of the Day: Traffic in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietman originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 05 Dec 2011 18:30:00 EST.
