Find a small travel case and put travel sizes of all the basics -- a toothbrush, floss, toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, hair spray, styling products, comb or brush, contact lens solution, soap, razor, shaving cream and lotion -- inside. Other items to consider adding include safety pins, nail clippers, emery boards, shower cap and shoe shine cloth.

Each time you return from a trip, replenish what you used out of the bag before you put it away. Then, the next time you need to pack, you'll save yourself time (no need to repack) and worry ("What did I forget?!").
Keep a "forever-packed bag" - Packing tip originally appeared on Gadling on Fri, 29 Jan 2010 13:08:00 EST. However, navigating through unfamiliar places can be daunting. Add rush hour traffic to it, and the road trip can go from a blast to extremely stressful -- fast.

Don't get sucked in and stressed out! Use the time to include some extras in your trip. Don't just sit in the car, sucking on fumes: Consider sightseeing, stopping for a bite to eat at a restaurant you've never been to, visiting a historic landmark, or taking a walk in the park.

Stops are inevitable on a road trip, so rather than get frustrated by them, use them wisely, and find rush hour relief.
Make the most of rush hour - Road trip tip originally appeared on Gadling on Thu, 14 Jan 2010 01:58:00 EST.
