Up the stakes by picking a theme for your trip!

Choose a theme that you and your travel buddies agree might be interesting, and do your best to center your stops and sightseeing around this theme. The possibilities are endless:

Food theme: Eat only barbecue across the Southeastern U.S.

Sports theme: Pit-stop at small town parks for quick games of touch football

Souvenir theme: Collect tacky knick-knacks from truck stops and gas stations

Couch theme: Limit your overnight stays to only couch-surfing

If you have a preference for room location (high or low floor), proximity to elevator, or pillow type (soft, firm, or down alternative), or would like robes or anything else specific in your room, give the hotel a heads-up when booking your room.

As long as they're not super busy, you'll find most properties to be very accommodating to your requests.
Ask them to personalize your room - Hotel tip originally appeared on Gadling on Tue, 16 Feb 2010 12:51:00 EST. In so doing, they provide different offers and deals depending on the user.

To make sure you're getting the best prices when you book air travel online, be sure to clear your web browser's cookies and cache. This will make it appear as if it's your first time visiting these sites, and you're likely to see much better prices for your next flight!
Clear your browser's cookies before booking flights online - Airline tip originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 15 Feb 2010 21:37:00 EST.
