If you fly, you're bound to experience it at some point -- but airplane turbulence doesn't have to be scary! Bring an MP3 player aboard and, the moment the air gets bumpy, turn it to your favorite track and get groovy!

You'll likely get some looks from the other passengers, but hey -- you get to have fun and forget the fear.

When you dance in place -- or "chair dance" -- the dips and jolts all seem like part of the experience, and they become less noticeable. It's tried and true advice. Don't be skeptical; try it on your next flight!
Dance to soothe turbulence fears - Airplane tip originally appeared on Gadling on Thu, 11 Feb 2010 14:59:00 EST.
When you begin to explore your travel destination, it may be difficult to keep from buying the first intriguing thing you see. After all, it's so novel to you! Over time, though, you'll usually realize that the same souvenirs are sold in almost every shop.

Once you get used to seeing the same things again and again, unique items that cannot be found anywhere else will start to stand out to you. These are the true prizes: gifts for those back home that are truly found nowhere else in the world!

Shop patiently - Souvenir tip originally appeared on Gadling on Mon, 11 Jan 2010 02:02:00 EST.
Sharing a ride may give you the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. It will also help out another traveler in need. Finally, it may even save you a decent amount of money, since they should chip in for gas.
Use eRideshare.com - Road trip tip originally appeared on Gadling on Sun, 10 Jan 2010 02:00:00 EST.
By joining communities like these, meeting new people, and making new friends, you can experience each destination a little more personally, participate in more "insider" or "locals only" activities -- and even save money. After all, locals know all the best places to eat, see, and visit -- and they should know how to do it affordably.

Bonus: when you get home, you'll have made new friends with whom you can correspond and visit again in the future.
Join a community of travelers - International travel tip originally appeared on Gadling on Thu, 07 Jan 2010 13:58:00 EST.
Destinations such as Bangkok, Thailand, for example, sell quality, fashionable clothes for low prices. For destinations such as these, pack about three outfits and plan to shop soon after you get there. This may not be advisable, however, for travel destinations such as London or Tokyo. In order to make the right decision, research your destination's clothes prices before departure.

Further, shopping abroad gives you the opportunity to explore local cultures -- and maybe even purchase some cool, wearable souvenirs.

Bonus: Saving space in your luggage may, in turn, result in less luggage -- and fewer baggage charges!

Buy clothes there - Packing tip originally appeared on Gadling on Wed, 06 Jan 2010 14:03:00 EST.
