Postcards not only highlight "sight-see-worthy" locations, but if language is a barrier, just show the cab driver the picture, and you're on your way.

Once you're at your location, write a memory of your visit, mail it to your residence, and add to your scrapbook.

The biggest plus? No need to carry the heavy travel guides with you.
Postcards as guides - International travel tip originally appeared on Gadling on Fri, 22 Jan 2010 08:37:00 EST. Not only do extra luggage fees now apply, but if the one piece of luggage you are checking is even slightly overweight, you can expect a hefty fee for that, as well. A quick review of your airline's rules may save you fees prior to boarding. How to avoid fees all together?

Wear your heaviest clothes such boots, coat, or sweater onto the plane.

Carry your extra shoes or coat in your carry-on.

Trade in your heavy-duty luggage (which can weigh up to 18 lbs) for a lighter, but durable, piece of nylon luggage instead.

Applying these tips could free up as much as 25 pounds in your suitcase!
Wear (or carry) heavier items - Packing tip originally appeared on Gadling on Sun, 17 Jan 2010 08:13:00 EST.
