The TSA is a reflection of the Federal Government, simply stated Pathetic. Is there anything the Fed Gov does in an effective and efficient manner. Nothing, TSA, Amtrack, is a shining example, since the gov took over RR service, they have cut service, some of the largest cities in the US are not serviced by train, example Houston, Tx. If you take a train from Miami FLa to Chicago Ill, you must go through Washington DC. You could walk to Chicago faster and of course it looses a ton of money, ever year they go back to Congress to more and more money, why should they try to improve, they just go to Congress and demand more and they get it. Who else would spend a ton of money on trains capable of going 150 mph and run on a restricted roadbed where the top speed permitted is 60mph or there about. They brag how fast the train is capable of running, how utterly sad and pathetic. Now they want to build a line from the Mahovie Dessert to Las Vegas, tracks are already in place from LA to Vegas, can't use them, might hurt a dessert insect. So we will spend millions more. How sad, how sad, ah what does th govenment care, they need more money, just raise taxes. Pathetic!

we pay a fortune to subsidize air and highway travel. who pays for the tsa, for the airports, for the faa tower people and radar installations, and the highways.
rail is a good alternative for travel of three hours of less. you save two hours and the hassle of the tsa at the airport.
nothing wrong with govt. subsidizing transportation.

To those that don't fly there is something wrong with subsidizing air travel. We're paying for something that does not benefit us directly. No different than subsidizing farmers to not grow any crops. Does not benefit anyone but those getting welfare from the government.
