I am glad you enjoyed your trips, working there through my college years was great. The San Diego Zoo have a group of dedicated people that strive to make it better for the animals as they educate the public in conservation and preservation and not just for wildlife, for what we can do in our own neighborhoods as well.

I laughed when you talked about giving the map of the zoo to your son. I saw so many wiped out parents at the end of day pushing their child up those hills. The children were either passed out in nap mode or crying because they didn't want to leave. Luckily for me I had an annual pass and could always come back.

and no the zoo (either location) does not have Beluga Whales.
