17 inches?? I am 5'6", 135 lbs and let me tell you I have to SQUEEZE into the seats. Airline seats USED to be much wider, with more leg room. No wonder there is so much hatred for "customers of size" we're all fighting like rats in a cage. If airlines raised their ticket fares up to more than the price of a bus ticket (like they USED to, it was a luxury to fly in the past) perhaps they could do away with trying to fit 13 men into a space designed to fit 7. It's ridiculous, all this name calling and fighting is all the result of airlines trying to cut corners by adding more seats into places they surely cannot fit!
