My weight has gone up and down. I've been both bigger and slim. It really isn't fair to wait for a person to get to the gate and tell them they are too large. Just for the record, even though they have seat sizes listed in this article, not all planes on all airlines have the same sized seats. I've been very comfortable on one leg of a flight and felt jammed in on another. Besides, airlines do keep the seats very small for profit, not for comfort. I am a woman, tall as the average man and even when I've been very thin, the seats are uncomfortable. The truth is, I have been next to fat people and the only issue was that we touched the whole way. But, I have been next to men in suits who fit in the seat but their shoulders banged into me the whole time. I've been next to very tall people whose knobby knees and elbows smashed me. And, the last time I flew some tiny little bitch sat her bag next to her with taking up enough space to lift the arm of the chair up. Why wasn't she charged extra? I asked her to move it, all she did was shift it. It was back on my side in no time. In other words, stop it with the idea that fat people are the problem. Anyone not tiny is the problem. Tiny is the problem because tiny people do not realize how annoying they are. And, the real problem is that we're trying to fit a large audience in a tiny space. And, kids. can we just leave them home? blech.
