It was not rain, but we had a similar occurrence in Wyoming about 5 years ago. We were having a particularly bad winter that year, quite a few "blizzards", during this one blizzard the wind was very vicious blowing away around 5 ft. of snow on the prairie right down to the soil. Then the soil started blowing in the air along with the snow, and wa-la, we had" brown snow!" It covered everything, and looked kind of cool at first, but as soon as it started to melt it made everything it touched look FILTHY DIRTY! All the buildings, vehicles, etc., had to be washed down eventually, problem was we had to wait for warm weather in order to do the washing. So everything outside looked like filth for quite a while.
