As a TWA Flight Attendant for 28 years, I loved arriving to and leaving from this beautiful terminal. The walk through one of the two tunnel walkways to the gate area prepared everyone for their upcoming flight experience. . .and everyone at that time (ticketed, as well as non-ticketed passengers) could walk all the way to the gate area through these tunnels. There were no security restrictions in place -- no need to take off one's shoes and jackets, or go through x-ray machines, etc. It was certainly a different time and a more enjoyable experience than today. I'm glad that this terminal has been designated a National Historic Landmark to remind us all of the joys of flying "once upon a time."
