Creationist Audio Tour Removed From Giant's Causeway

The National Trust has removed a controversial creationist segment in their audio presentation from the visitor center at Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland, the BBC reports.
The National Trust, which manages the geological marvel and UNESCO World Heritage Site, opened a new visitors center there in July. Soon there were numerous complaints about one segment of the audio tour that stated the dating of the rocks was controversial: "Young Earth Creationists believe that the Earth was created some 6000 years ago. This is based on a specific interpretation of the Bible and, in particular, the account of creation in the book of Genesis. Some people around the world, and specifically here in Northern Ireland, share this perspective."
This segment was replaced with the statement that there was a, "clear understanding among scientists that the heat of the earth was the driving force behind the formation of the Giant's Causeway ... All the scientific evidence points to a volcanic origin for the columns of the Giant's Causeway, around 60 million years ago. However, not everyone agrees with the scientific view. There are some people who believe – often for religious reasons – that the earth was formed more recently, thousands of years ago rather than billions. The National Trust supports the scientific view of the formation of the Giant's Causeway."
The exhibit is an interactive audio display. You can see the full revised transcript here, and the original transcript here.

Yup, the technique of dating the rocks is controversial, to creationists.
Creationists are anti science dogmatic fundamentalists who insist on Biblical inerrancy, right up to the point of challenging the most basic of scientific laws and theories. The sciences attacked by creationists are, biology, geology, antropology, radiometry, physics, chemistry, plate tectonics, stratigraphy, etc., etc.etc etc etc........
The Trust's decision to put creationist fraud in a publicly funded exhibit was wrong. Their decsion to remove it was,,, late. Radiometric age dating is certainly NOT controversial. If it is, then nuclear power plants , nuclear energy, fusion, fission, the sun and everything else mankind has learned about nuclear physics, is wrong. Categorically. This of course is more creationist nonsense.
The fact is creationism is not science, has been decried by hundreds of Nobel laureates, the Vatican, most denominational church councils, any accreditted science organization or journal, educators, and the courts. If a creationist attacks a scientific finding, you can bet, they have no credible alternative to replace it with. Thats also why they attack evolution, a theory supported by MOUNTAINS of research. Next time you meet a creationist making ridiculous claims, ask him or her to write a research paper on their thoughts and submit it to a SCIENCE journal. They'll shut up fast. Creationists can't get their work published because its not science. They offer no ideas, only attacks on science, coupled with strange ideas linked to Biblical interpretation, usually of the Old Testament.
Creationists fall into the following categories. a. mentally ill, b. ignorant. c. stupid d. liars. Unfortuantely, there is no other explanation for why a human being would claim science , proven tested, logical reasonable science, on all fronts , is incorrect if they think scripture disagrees with the scientific finding. They do that in Iran probably too. Science is often wrong, but its based on logic not dogma. Creationism fails on all counts with regards to scientific rigor.
Creationists, begone. Christianity has no room for those who can't reconcile their faith with science. The Dark Ages are yours to keep.!!
My faith as a Christian isn't threatened by science. I'm sorry yours is, howvever, you've had plenty of chances to learn how to think. Out.!!
Its not either or. One canbe a Christian and a logical reasonable science literate human. Church leaders who say otherwise are damaging faith, the people they say that to, and education.

Erroneously,
part of WILL F's comment says:
"The fact is creationism is not science, has been decried by ... the Vatican"
An informative brochure that summarizes Catholic Creation Doctrine
is entitled: "What Does the Catholic Church Teach about Origins?"
(partial quote)
- Genesis does not contain purified myths. (Pontifical Biblical Commission 1909)
- Genesis contains real history - it gives an account of things that really happened. (Pius XII)
...
- All the Fathers who wrote on the subject believed that the Creation days were no longer than 24-hour-days. (Consensus of the Fathers of the Church)
...
- St. Peter and Christ Himself in the New Testament confirmed the global Flood of Noah. It covered all the then high mountains and destroyed all land dwelling creatures except eight human beings and all kinds of non-human creatures aboard the Ark (Unam Sanctam, 1302)
...
- Evolution must not be taught as fact, but instead the pros and cons of evolution must be taught. (Pius XII, Humani Generis)
...
What Does Cutting-Edge Science Teach about Origins?
...
- Matter from explosions does not condense to form objects like galaxies.
- Chemicals do not react together randomly to form amino acids through natural processes.
- Amino acids do not randomly interact to form living cells through undirected natural processes.
- Molecules-to-man evolutionism violates the Law of Biogenesis: Life does not come from non-life.
- The specific complexity of genetic information in the genome does not increase spontaneously. Therefore, there is no natural process whereby reptiles can turn into birds, land mammals into whales, or chimpanzees (or any other kind of creature) into human beings.
...
- Many worldwide natural processes indicate an age for the earth of 10,000 years or less. These include population kinetics, influx of radiocarbon into earth’s atmosphere, absence of meteorites from the geologic column, and decay of earth’s magnetic field.
...
CONCLUSION:
Natural science offers no evidence that would contradict the plain and obvious sense of Genesis 1-11, the consensus of the Fathers of the Church, or the magisterial teaching of the Catholic Church on creation and the origins of man and the universe.

It would be nice if the Vatican would take a clear position on whether the Church understands science.
If accurate, these quotes show that the Vatican is opposed to valid science.
Science is the way we know what is real.

In reply to Tim Noonan's comment:
Cutting-edge science, Catholic Creation Doctrine, and Scripture are opposed to
evolutionism.
"In the last authoritative papal statement on evolution, the encyclical Humani generis, Pope Pius XII upheld essential elements of the traditional doctrine of creation, including the historicity of Genesis. He especially emphasized the importance of preserving the traditional Catholic approach to philosophy as exemplified in the writings of St. Thomas Aquinas....
A new book by Fr. Chad Ripperger: The Metaphysics of Evolution has now demonstrated that the theory of evolution is incompatible with the metaphysics of the Catholic tradition."
Although Tim wrote:
"Science is the way we know what is real."
...
Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding come from God:
i.e.
Proverbs 2:6
"For the LORD gives wisdom,
and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."
Proverbs 9:10
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

Research acquired in the nation's College of Singapore went more into detail, stating that 60% have a very code of ethics along with the 60%, about 80% make use of the code around the global http://www.pickyourredbottomheels.com/christian-louboutin-men-sneakers-c-83.html scale.
Singapore is the greatest example how ethics could affect any economy. Without ethics many nations would finish in danger.

Erroneously, a creationist above tries to mislead the readers. The Vatican recently barred creationist groups from participating in an evolution seminar and described creationsism as "NEITHER SCIENCE OR REligion".
PPope Pius in the 20th centurt caregoriacally decired creationsism.
The commenter above who tied to mislead the readership is a theological gibberish speaker who can't let go of his fraudulent views.
See NCSE website for SPECIFIC comments by the Catholoc church supporting evolution and criticizing creationism.
Period . end of story. Epic Fail by the creationoisd above.

The creationists above can spout theological gibberish to their hearts content. Pope Pius said creationism is incorrect and attacks on evolution are incorrect.
Scientists don't dispute their is a God, but Catholics who claim the Vatican supports creationism against established science are liars.
The Vatican clearly and defintively siad, "creationism is neither science or rleigion. religionits who claim otherwise are just speaking gibberish in an effort to share their state of irreducible perplexity regarding science and reason.

If you can't, stop attacking logic and science with your religious "scientific" gibberish.
