'The Hop' Takes Suitcases Hands-Free
Thanks to a new suitcase called "Hop," lugging your carry-on bag around the airport could get a wee bit simpler. Utilizing the Bluetooth connectivity in your telephone, the suitcase can wheel after its owner all on its own. The suitcase robot even tells the owner if it has gotten lost; the owner's phone will vibrate if the suitcase loses Bluetooth connectivity.
We think this is an ingenious idea, provided the suitcase can keep up with us running to catch a tight connection.
This isn't the first robot suitcase to be developed, however. Now, if only it could lift itself into the overhead compartment as well.

Another ridiculous invention for lazy people. The only people who should benefit from this are people who are disabled physically in some way.

Just another another toy to show off and play with. Another needless out of pocket expense for brain-dead people.

Who walks that slow at an airport? What a stupid waste of money
Kman Oct 3rd 2012 10:21AM
Ridiculous. Besides being very slow and very unsteady, the safety issues make it completely unpractical. Not to worry, though - anytime one of these gets more than one step away from its owner, it will hop away, alright.

"The Hop";
The luggage thieves will gift to unsuspecting travelers, (it will probably become the #1 FREE gift from many companies for becoming a new customer).
AND
The luggage most confiscated, ...or at least most likely to be opened & pilfered through by Airport Security.
We can't wait to experience it in real life, & real time.
THE HOP, ...THE LUGGAGE THAT DAWDLES BEHIND YOU.
So the quick & nimble thieves have a chance in this world too. LOL!!!

when i watched the video, i could not stop laughing!
it seems almost too ridiculous to be true.
this would be more of a hassle,
and the people who choose to use them would be in the way.
smart phones are making dumb people.
i think i can sum this up in one word....LAZY!

At least someone is thinking. I have tripped over those roller boards suitcases being dragged behind in crowded airports. It people could push them in front like a cart, they would have control and not swing them around making turns knocking into people. I realize no one has eyes on the back of their heads and are probably unaware of the damage they leave.

"The Hop",... the "IT" Girl luggage. I can only imagine Paris Hilton & the Kardasians, & Nicole (that short girl with the long black hair) using this luggage. Mostly, just Nicole (the short girl, cause she has trouble walking,... when she's sober. That in it's sels seems to be the trouble).

I just cruised through the TV Channels & found her,... SNOOKY WOULD USE THAT LUGGAGE. She will probably be their spokes person for commercials.
Even Snooky can successfully navigate with "The Hop".

This would be neet if it were not for the fact that you can not leave your baggage alone at an airport. A lost bag that lost its owner would shut down the airport !

Looks like this was filmed in an empty building. This idea will never fly.

Great for terrorists too...slip a chip into someone's pocket and have a bomb follow them into an airport! Suicide bomber lives to bomb another day!

For the laziest of the lazy.

This might work in a bus station, but in an airport...TOO SLOW!!

Let's see a suitcase filled with wires, batteries, motors and printed circuit boards - Why of course!!!

Robot suitcase I invented has wings made out of graviton matrix material, GPS guidance, and flies itself to your destination saving you the baggage fees.
