Boudhanath Stupa is popular holy sites for Buddhist religious people in Kathmandu valley, Nepal. Boudhanath is among the largest stupas in South Asia. It has become the focal point of Tibetan Buddhist in Nepal and rich in Buddhist symbolism. The stupa is located in the town of Boudha, on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu. Boudhanath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist sites in the Kathmandu area.
Boudhanath Stupa was built in the 14th century . The stupa is located on the ancient trade route to Tibet, and Tibetan merchants rested and offered prayers here for many centuries. After the arrival of thousands of Tibetans refugees the 1959 Chinese invasion, the temple has become popular of Tibetan Buddhism. Many of refugees decided to live around Boudhanath. Today it remains an important place of pilgrimage and meditation for Tibetan Buddhists and local Nepalease, as well as a popular tourist site.
