I have traveled both alone, and with significant others.
The ability to go to where you want, to stay as long as you want and just enjoying the view, trumps having to listen to 1) Indecision of the 'other one' (which restaurant... or menue item), and 2) Their complaints just for the sake of complaining for which there is no solution.
The quiet of the single traveler has made me really enjoy the Zen experience of traveling alone.
