Hotel And Event Hosts Sued By Family Of Girl Killed Sliding Down A Banister
On October 30, 2010, 23-year-old Megan Duskey fell to her death at a Halloween-themed ball at the Palmer House Hilton. The young elementary school teacher at Orville T. Bright Elementary School was attempting to slide down a banister when she fell four floors. Now, Duskey's family is claiming the girl's death was the fault of the "Haunted Hotel Ball" hosts, and are suing for more than $500,000.According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the family believes the event hosts allowed ticket-holders to consume an exorbitant amount of alcohol without supervision or protection. The ten-count suit, which was filed Tuesday, is naming Hilton Worldwide, the Palmer House Hilton, Surreal Chicago and Adrenaline Y2K as the hosts of the party.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office stated that Duskey was dead at the scene, ruling the death an accident.
While efforts on Tuesday night to reach Hilton Worldwide and Adrenaline Y2K were unsuccessful, CEO of Surreal Chicago, Brian Pfeiffer, declined to comment based on the fact Duskey's death occurred in the lobby of the hotel, and not while she was at the party.

What on earth as this to do with being a liberal.... this is a girl who drank too much, was showing off and had an accident. I think it's terribly tragic, but don't blame anyone else for one's own faults.

The chick was cute but a little on the dumb side. And SHE was a teacher?
Melissa Jul 28th 2012 1:17AM
I agree. So tired of people blaming (suing) others for their own mistakes.

Where does it mention her family are liberals? More likely they are Mittnuts who care more about money than right or wrong, or anything else for that matter!

actually i wiah i could reply to the person from audrey ca that said that the 86 year woman that had coffee spilled on her was driving down the hiway at the time she was not the server handed her a coffee with the top not secured and dropped it in her lap, and i hav had a worker do the same to me resulting in blisters on my abdomen then the same server tried to hand me a second cup with the top half off. while i did not sue i can't help but feel that the person malining the woman that sued over this should get his story correct i wish this blog would allow you to reply to the statement you want not just the last statement

It was her decision to drink and slide down the bannister, how can her parents sue.
Maybe they should be held accountable, maybe they didn't raise her right. How about that food for thought. It is totally ridiculous, a shame she died but she made her own choices.

haha..

If she drank alcohol, prob no one poured it down her throat. If she rode the bannister, she prob did it by herself, maybe after someone else did. Young kids watch Jackass and think they are infallible. tragic accident, and it happens frequently.

At age 23 she she have known how much alcohol to consume. Her death is tradgic, but her own fault. trying to sue for monetary gain is just so wrong. Personal responsibility.....at age 23 she have had it !!!

Exactly! This is a very tragic accident and we must feel for the family. However, this girl was an adult and made poor choices starting with drinking way too much then making the decision to play like a child and slide down a banister FROM THE 4th. FLOOR! Very tragic! However, not a lawsuit!

Obviously, you don't really know many liberals. I'm a liberal - not to the extent of Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid, but a little to the left of center. I think this lawsuit is frivolous and that the only one responsible for that young woman's unfortunate accident is her. The hotel did not tell her to drink. The hotel did not tell her to slide down the banister. Learn what the true beliefs of a liberal are before you choose to make a fool of yourself.

As in suing the fork for being obese!
Ryan Jul 28th 2012 11:48AM
The hotel, organizers, and any witnesses should sue the parents for their dumbass daughter causing emotional stress from witnessing this
"ACCIDENT"!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chuck Jul 28th 2012 11:49AM
What a ridiculous thing to say. Liberals dont believe in personal responsibility? I am a screaming liberal and think this family should be ashamed for suing anyone over this. The problem with conservatives is they blame liberals for everything - because they wont take responsibility for any of the insanity they cause every day. My advice would be to grow up and realize this was a very stupid woman who did an even more stupid thing - and now the family who refused to realize this wants someone elses money to save the memory of their daughter - YUCK - people like this make me sick.
