UK Hotel Swaps Bibles For Fifty Shades of Grey
A UK hotel is making waves for its risque swapping of the requisite bedside Bible for copies of the steamy erotica novel Fifty Shades of Grey. The Damson Dene hotel in Great Britain's Lake District has placed copies of the bestselling novel in all 40 of its hotel rooms.
The hotel's owner, Jonathan Denby, purchased the hotel from a Methodist group a decade ago and told NBC news that he has been wondering what to replace the Bibles with ever since. A religious book is "wholly inappropriate" in a private bedroom, he told NBC, and wanted to find a suitable replacement.
Denby says that he himself has not read the books."I was thinking originally of putting in a book by Ayn Rand - 'Atlas Shrugged' was my first thought..."(But) because everybody is reading 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' we thought it would be a hospitable thing to do, to have this available for our guests, especially if some of them were a little bit shy about buying it because of its reputation."
We have, and we're sincerely hoping that the Damson Dene has very thorough daily housekeeping services.

Thus the reason for the fall of man.

It's very sad to think this hotel owner believes "A religious book is "wholly inappropriate" in a private bedroom. There may come to his hotel a sad and broken person, needing something in their life besides sex. A Bible could possibly save their life with reassurance for a better life. Hotels aren't about sex, they're supposed to be traveler stay over quarters, a place to shower and sleep.

I wish they would do this in every hotel in the world. It is about time they replace that old tired fairy tail book with a new fairy tail book.

because everyone coming in the hotel is Christian, right?
also if i'd need spiritual help, hotel is not the place i where i will be seeking it.
to be honest, if i come to hotel for sex i will not be reading...Bible, Koran, Dr. Seuss or 50 shades of grey, doesn't matter.
now if i'm traveling for business and or sight seeing and am very tired after the long day, if i read i'd rather pick something silly rather than moral overload of a Bible...
i'd have my fav author in my suitcase, actually, so i don't really care what's in the drawer... as long as it's not a dead roach... or alive one...

They are doing the same thing in the u.s. Only know god when they want something or when it's good for p.r. to get votes. Ask Obama who is good at this acting job.

Funny, they want nothing to do with God, but when their flesh is in need or they are in distress they are calling on him for help as if he is Santa Clause who is just supposed to give them what they want all the time without any acknowledgement of respect. And when they don't get what they want, they are ready to blame him for their lives.

It doesn't matter. Asking God for help is like flipping a coin. You get the same rersult either way.

Who's this they person you're going on about? I've never met anyone who has acted the way you're describing. In times of distress I've never asked god for anything because there is no god. There's a book that some people wrote with some pretty outlandish stories in it. In times of distress I'll take some reality not a prayer to something with no proof that it even exists.

and farther down the drain we go as human beings!

Ill bet it will be read more than the silly bible....
Probably a better read anyway... More sex, less death and sin....
Blackie Jul 25th 2012 5:31PM
Maybe he should offer his wife and daughters to travelers who get horny after reading that book.

If that isn't an ultimate "sign of the times" I
don't know what is.
Has the Apocalypse just started.
So rude!

I'm all for it. I would never and have never looked at the bibble they leave in hotels. I can think of better ways to be bored. This book would at least be some cool..or hot..entertainment.

The bible actually does have value. The it the best proof that space aliens actually did visit earth. Every story is ripe with evidence. Other than that, its a piece of crap

For all the moaners and groaners that are complaining about this switch: if you were REALLY all that "into" reading the Bible on the road, why would you depend on your HOTEL to provide you with a copy? Don't you TAKE ONE WITH YOU? Sounds like a lot of noise from a vocal minority, who wouldn't be satisfied if they put a CHAPEL in each room!

Im not a Christian and I dont read the bible but putting "50 shades of grey" in a Hotel room instead of a bible reflects everything that is wrong with western societies.
Also: Why do you feel the need to insult the bible? Ever heard of respect?
Anyways Im not surprised, people have always been and will always be brainswashed. This anti-religion doctrine of western media is just depressing.
