I really hate to rain on your parade but Big Ben is actually the great bell that sounds out the hour chimes and not the clock. An unfortunate error if you're going to use the phrase 'but nearly everyone misidentifies it'.

Much as I hate to reward rudeness from anonymous people on the Internet, you are indeed correct. My mistake was the result of haste. Please keep in mind there are ways to correct people without being obnoxious.
